The cameras will show us what Putin wants us to see. It's difficult to conduct balanced journalism in Moscow - the BBC, for all their faults, get followed around by plain clothes 'minders' everywhere they go in major Russian cities.
...and yesterday, RT was quick to proudly show us the fireworks displays in the Donbas and Luhansk at the news of Putin's announcements and interventions. Followed by interviews of people on the streets of Moscow who were all in favour of military intervention.
That said, there are of course many (a majority of?) Russians who genuinely do support Putin, his popularity mustn't be downplayed. We just hardly hear from anybody with a dissenting opinion, except occasionally from the likes of Garry Kasparov, Alex Navalny, and

@harms - genuine question, and sorry if you've been asked this before. Do people you know and speak to resent NATO/westerners in the way that the RT comments section would have us believe?
