Saudi Arabia sports minister HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal has not ruled out a potential takeover of Manchester United. The Middle Eastern country’s royalty have been linked with a takeover bid for United over the last year only to largely rebuff those claims.

Anything is possible towards future," he said, speaking at the Diriyah Arena which will host Anthony Joshua’s rematch against Andy Ruiz Jr this weekend.

Now we are focused on developing the local scene and we have invested a lot of money in football clubs within the kingdom."

The Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman Al Saud has been the man chiefly linked to the acquisition of United with Red Devils fans disgruntled with the current regime at the club.

I think they will buy a football club whether that being Man Utd or someone else, I think it is going to happen. Money always is the key factor at the end of the day whether you like it or not unfortunately. It’s the world we live in.

They are definitely trying to move the oil money towards other ventures to anticipate for the possible and eventual demand drop.

They will buy some club sooner or later, it is clear. It is matter of prestige. Uae did it, Qatar did it so they must do it also.
On top of that, ladt 2 years Glazers invested minimum for transfers, went for cheapest option for manager so yeah, i think it is something what can happen in near future.

I want absolutely nothing to do with a Saudi Royal family takeover. Nothing. I'd rather get relegated than see the club be owned by these people

If the club was for sale, it would probably have been sold already.

The Glazers look like they plan on being here long term.

MBS himself, oof. We should have a poll for our second choice clubs if the Saudi takeover happens.
I have a more jaded view that the overwhelming majority won't care. My view coming from massive disappointment at seeing Trump elected despite the shadow of sexual misconduct, white supremacy and nationalism. Actually had many a friend that voted for him use the same excuse - the bad stuff is exaggerated, he'll be better once on this global stage, I had to choose my welfare first (promise of jobs).

Manchester United. Religion. Wife. Kids. Wifi. Amazon Prime...Human Rights. That Order.

I'm an Arab(not Saudi) and I say if they truly take it over it will probably influence my love and passion for Man United. Mind you I'm all for the Emiratis, Qataris or the Omanis taking over. But the Saudis... thats a step too far. I cant stand by and support a club that is being ruled by an evil regime that has destroyed so many peoples lives in Yemen and also destroyed a lot of the potential and futures of mine country and other Arab/Islamic nations by spreading their poison of Wahabism in to our schools, in to our houses of worships and even in our society. I'm sorry for this rant but I get emotional when it comes to stuff like this. I hate talking politics.

Here we go again with the lessons in ethics.

Bring on the Saudi’s

We need an owner that lets us operate to our full potential. Owners that do not seek a financial return.

The biggest clubs in Europe have that type of owner, one who doesn’t seek financial returns on their investment.
We need the same platform, we are the biggest brand in world football ffs.

Man up and get on with it. Nobody agrees with their atrocities but owning United won’t exactly make it worse, as I’ve said before if anything the stronger connections to western culture may marginally influence them to avoid further atrocities, with all the worldwide negative press that would bring being United owners.

Sadly their atrocities are not on the news every day because people don’t care enough, once they own United suddenly their behaviour will be bigger news.
Any ‘soft power’ or influence through ‘sports washing’ would be cancelled out by such negative press.

Therefore I only see this as a positive for us and them in the long run.

People need to stop connecting their moral beliefs to their football club, you don’t support the owners you support the club and squad and our history.

Why?
They'll be more aware than anyone that the value is at its peak, the amount required to get us competitive and sort the ground out is overwhelming, and they could cream off 4billion selling now!

Saudi Arabia is a brutal country where women and gays are persecuted and slavery is rife. Any association with the House of Saud should be avoided on moral and humanitarian grounds.

Theres no ethics in this world , Glazers are corrupt and these guys too. Bring it on.
Difference is the Glazers havent bombed innocent people in to pieces. The Glazers havent fecked my country up by spending billions of dollars in to building wahabist mosques and spreading a vile toxic ideology through those same mosques that has radicalized many sects of the population which in result retarded our nation and put us back like hundreds of years. I dont currently live in my nation of origin and I'm glad for that. My father knew back then as a young boy that with the radical takeover that the country was dying. He did the right thing he got the feck out of there and made something out of himself in Europe and gave me and my brothers a future. Same with my mothers family. They were sensible enough to know that whatever the Saudis touch it turns too shite. Even today young educated people are leaving the country in droves because its fecked.

It's not an update. It's a PR stunt. They're in the middle of establishing themselves as relevant in the entertainment industry through selling a big boxing fight between AJ and Andy Ruiz. They have absolultly no regard for Manchester United - it was just a great opportunity to milk the boxing attention to draw attention to Saudi alternative investments.

If Saudis wanted Manchester United they would have bought them by now. They're not exactly the type to bargain over a few dollars.

Officially the best poker player on RAWK.
Oh right my bad. Private American businessmen are complicit in the acts of their Government and so are equally bad as the House of Saud. Silly me forgetting my basic maths.
Football > everything. Fake moral outrage. Etc...etc...etc...

Lets put morale side away and think for a second what would happen if they buy us.
Tier A+ club in tier A+ league with billions to spend. First transfer window would be in fm style

First they came for the socialist, and I did not speak out - because I was not a socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out - because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out - because I was not Jewish.
Then they came for me - and there was no one left to speak for me.

How much Saudi's money is already in the club? I don't like this "levels of evil". They as sponsors are good but as owners they are not? Yes, yes it is not the same but nevertheless their money is here.

I am not saying that i want them in club. Tbh, i don't know what to think about it. If something starts to happen then i will know.

Bit of an aside, but BBC 5 Live have really annoyed me today with regard to Saudi Arabia.

Focusing on the fight between Joshua and Ruiz, they've played a clip a few times now from what sounds like one of their journalists visiting Saudi Arabia. He opines that it could become an excellent tourist destination and says it's amazed so far at the reception he's been given. At the same time, they've quizzed one of the fighters (unsure which) about whether they think Saudi Arabia should be held accountable for their human rights abuses. That for me is completely arse over tit — their journalist should be the guy focusing on geopolitics, not the fecking boxer.

But yeah, it seems like the Saudis are on a charm offensive and are using sports as a vehicle so a purchase of the club, or another big one, wouldn't be a surprise.
