I think yes. We don't even have decent wingers who can cover attackers in terms of goals and assists.

2015/16 was worse. A past it Rooney who could no longer perform in the league, a new kid Rashford and a young lad from France

Can only judge after the first few months of the season. But this is a huge gamble though

The 92 team did pretty good so if the current lot get close to that surely that’s a good thing!?

15/16 not looking great! And Rashford and Martial should now be ready to step up.

It is unbelievable that Fergie even then, when we didn't have this much money, added nearly every year one excellent striker. While having already excellent attack.

I'd say it's the most *inefficient* attack since McClair and Davenport in 1987, but that was when we played 4:4:2. Sanchez, Martial and Rashford is a very good attack on paper. And with Chong, James, and Greenwood as prospects it's got potential.

What if we had Robson and Whiteside side in their prime now supplying our current front three?

Even with 15/16 as Martial and Rashford have stagnated since 4 years ago and an over the hill Sanchez filling in for Rooney.

At least now we have Greenwood and James where we don’t know their bar.

Don’t need to say anything about 5 goals a season Jesse.

He's only 30. It's his commitment to the team that's in question. If he can recapture his Arsenal form, it'd be like signing a new player.

I don’t question his commitment, he works hard on the pitch and as affirmed by Solskjaer in training he’s the most eager to play.

Quite simply he’s past it. He can barely last 90 minutes. He can’t perform to the same level.

The attack will be fine for a top 4 assault. The issue for me is the midfield and #10 role that will define our season. Gomes needs to be given the chance at #10 with Pogba and McTominay in a pivot in most games.

The less we see of Matic, Lingard and Mata, the better we will look with Gomes, Pogba and McTominay imo. We would be more creative which would benefit our forwards and more mobile with McTominay>Matic.

I think it's probably more to do with fitness as a result of injuries. He scored 60 goals in 4 seasons at Arsenal, but has only managed 3 in 32 games for us.
I don't think he went bad overnight like a pear the day he left Arsenal. He's struggled with fitness relating to injuries I think. This season is make or break for him.

There’s a big difference between fitness and injuries.

If Sanchez can do what we all know he can, it will be like watching a different team.

Yes it's the worst since 92.

I'd like to see a midfield version of this too. I'd expect its close to the worst too.

We scored 49 league goals in 2015-2016.

I don't think it can get worse than that.

2015/16 is worse by a bit, although you could argue both Martial and Rashford played better under LvG than anyone else, but yeah, that season aside the attack is crap.

Rashford - Ego bigger than his talent, patchy, not a great finisher.

Martial - Attitude and effort are questionable, talented but like Rashford for every 3 decent games there's half a dozen stinkers to follow.

Lingard - Bang average nothing player who has the mentality of a 14 year old, barely good enough for a squad role.

Mata - Finished.

Sanchez - Finished.

James - Championship winger, fast but basic, squad player.

Greenwood - Still a child, shouldn't be relied upon or given pressure, pre-season means feck all.

Gomes - Not unlike Greenwood, I'd give him games in the #10 over Lingard or Mata but again he shouldn't be seen as someone to count on as he's not done anything at senior level.
