I've been thinking this through and the only answer I can think is Yes.

Imagine each year the top 16 teams in the league send one designated penalty kick taker to compete in a 1v1 tournament to be crown the Official Premier League Penalty King Champion ™ .

The rules are thus:
  • A seeded draw, so the top team's player goes up against the littler team's player in the first round, building up towards the big teams facing each other later on
  • 5 penalties taken per round; less if they miss as usual
  • Played at WEMBERLEY for that sweet, sweet FA income
  • A star studded midway show featuring lots of cheerleaders
  • A big ass cup for the winner to take home to show the fam
  • TV rights go to the highest bidder
A top selection of goalkeepers are also selected to take part, voted via a poll on social media.

Your thoughts?

Yes. There should also be a free kick tournament. Add in an all star game too.

Yeah, would be fun. Like the NBA dunking contests which are great entertainment. Football needs more of that showmanship I believe. Would prefer American penalties, though (where you dribble from the middle) as they're a bit more unpredictable and flashy. Free-kicks too, with a real-life goalkeeper and cardboard walls.

This post is not sarcasm by the way.

It should be a player and goalkeeper partnership. For example, Heaton and Bruno vs. Alisson and Salah

No. Well it wouldn't interest me anyway. If it would other people then whatever.

I got bored watching our shootout vs Villareal as it dragged on, watching what I imagine would be a full day of them with nothing particularly worthwhile on the line isn't for me.

It sounds fun tbh - doesn't have to be bad because of it's origins. I'd enjoy that. Not a serious contest - just something for players and fans to have a bit of a laugh with

I like it. Very tiktok-able.

Who are we thinking for entertainment? The Weeknd?

Only a few Rules.

Sausage rolls and a bottle of Lucozade for breakfast.
Warmups consist of putting each leg up on the hoarding and giving it a brief stretch.
