Should you get awarded a win for postponed matches (COVID)

We've seen Rennes get an automatic 3-0 win over Spurs in the Europa conference league because of too many cases of COVID in the Spurs team. We've also seen sports like Rugby where wins are awarded in the same case too.

Should this be dished out on in the Premier League too?

Shit team needs to win away at City on the last day of the season to stay up -> City covid outbreak -> 100 years of lawsuits from the team that went down instead.

Not really going to work.

This is not what happened with Spurs. Spurs messed up. They unilaterally decided to not show up for the game a couple of hours before the match, without first getting the approval of the organizer (UEFA). UEFA has to cancel the match, not Spurs.

The same happens with FA. Formally, it is FA, the organizer, that postpones the matches, not the teams themselves.

All false.

Uefa themselves confirmed it was off at 9am on the day of the game.

As for Spurs cancelling the game unilaterally with no input from Uefa, if Spurs had acted so nefariously as to cancel a game they had no right to cancel then Uefa would surely have just booted them out of the competition right there and then. Instead though they worked with both clubs to find a new date for the fixture and it was only once no date could be found before Uefa's 31st December deadline that Rennes were awarded the 3-0 win.

Definitely not. Tarnishes the integrity of the competition even more. There’s no real perfect solution. Maybe cancel the FA cup to avoid fixture congestion instead.
