I hate how defenders are allowed to shield the ball excessively, basically pushing the chasing attacker away with their backs and arms, when it's on its way out to a goal kick.
I think they are more pathetic than annoying, though I have a grudging admiration for the lengths the Messi v Ronaldo warriors take their battles to.Neymar
Salah
Klopp
Suarez
Individual player fanboys
It's not when the ball is moving, per the rules. They try not to touch it because they want the goal kick/throw inDefenders shielding the ball out of play for a goal kick/throw-in. Being in control of the ball and shielding it takes skill and strength, shielding the ball/stopping an opponent reaching the ball when you have no intention to play it yourself is obstruction.
Is that right? I'd have to read the specific rule but as it is I don't see the difference between body-blocking a player to let the ball go out for a corner and body-blocking them off the ball for any other reason, which would be a foul. Surely you can only shield the ball if you have control of it, and you can only have control of the ball if you've either touched it or you're about to.It's not when the ball is moving, per the rules. Overly opinionated commentators who spend the whole match ranting about everything and just suck the fun out of the game. That miserable sod Gary Birtles ruins any game he commentates on.Pundits and co commentators who say they "don't like seeing that" when a player waves an imaginary card when he is fouled. Getting so boring now.
Why?Do you go to many/any United games out of interest?
One of my pet hates is people who "support" a team who have never been anywhere near the place.
Fair does. Yeah, you can't support two equal standing big teams, that doesn't work. You spend money time and energy supporting both clubs though so can’t fault that.
And Wycombe and Utd isn’t like “I support Man City and Real Madrid”.
They are the fans I was talking about really.
Maybe I'm going off the matchday threads and most knee jerk irrational threads seem to be set up by these armchair, never been near the ground types. Why?
Many years ago I was Malaysia and got up in the middle of the night to watch United in the hotel bar. I met a lad who was about my age and shared so many of my United memories. He was from Singapore so was usually either staying up well past midnight or getting up at 4am to watch United, or very occasionally flying halfway across the world. Who am I to tell him he's not a real United supporter?
A pet peeve of mine too. How is actively preventing the ball from being played in the spirit of the game?I hate how defenders are allowed to shield the ball excessively, basically pushing the chasing attacker away with their backs and arms, when it's on its way out to a goal kick.
Fifty Shades of Grey is better than anything I or most of us could ever write. Much more fun to just call it a pile of flaming garbage though.People naming decent/good/v.good players 'useless' or even 'abomination of a footballer' because they're not top tier. The Caf is known for it, sadly. Total extremes.
OK, if I ever meet him again I'll inform him that he's not a real supporter but you're grateful for his interest nonetheless.Maybe I'm going off the matchday threads and most knee jerk irrational threads seem to be set up by these armchair, never been near the ground types.
Of course it's great we have huge interest around the world.
I don't think I've ever cried out of sadness, but I shed a tear when Ole scored against Bayern, and I forget which game it was since Ole took over but there was a moment where it suddenly hit me that after 5 years of mostly horrible football this was the United I love again.Grown adults crying at football matches.
Get a grip.
But that's just in your use of language, surely? I can't get my head around the idea of loving two clubs equally but it's totally possible to actively support more than one in 2019, in the right circumstances. If you're a season ticket holder at a big club, with matches being moved for TV, international breaks and if home and away weeks went your way, you could probably still get to almost every home game for your local lower league team too. And if you want them to win, are you not supporting them? Yeah, if you had to make your choice then you'd pick your main team, but if you're also watching a lower league team how often is that actually going to come up?Totally agree with the original post, had debates with people who are adamant they support more than one club.
Always ask the same question who would you pick if those two meet in amatch. Pick one, so how can you support a club you want to lose? Unlikely they would meet.
You can only support one club but like others
You could even argue the lad is a even bigger fan. Getting up at 4am ish for every match? fecking hell. Good on them! Why?

I'd also say that this was just as the Arsenal years were ending. He'd been watching United (and Djemba-Djemba, Kleberson and Bellion) religiously throughout those, but he also had pretty encyclopaedic knowledge of everything from when I started watching United (my first game was in 1993). I don't know if Singapore TV even had United then. He might have gone back and researched. Anyway, he clearly loved United. You could even argue the lad is a even bigger fan. I like that guySometimes i stop watching in the tv and pick a stream to follow his comments. He is really funny.Martin Tyler when he says - And its live
My local team is in the Noggie fourth division or something like that. People can actually get fecked if they think I can be arsed with thatBugs me when people seem to think you can’t support a team if you're not from the city or can’t/don’t get to many games. “F*** off and a support your local team!”. I mean, it’s not as if your local team is full of local lads. Your likely supporting players from the countries the so called arm chair fans are from. Chances are if everyone supported their local teams, the team you support would be no where near as good.
It's doubly funny when it's people from huge Cities with giant clubs saying it.Biased English/British commentators. It's unbearable to watch. Just do your job and remain neutral if only to make it interesting for the viewers.
To be fair, that’s horrible on anyone not just footballersNeck tattoos. Seriously, it looks horrible.
Definitely, but you notice it on telly. Try going on an interview with that thing on your neck.To be fair, that’s horrible on anyone not just footballers
