Tech Advice: New TV

Already did, and he suggested the new Panasonic Viera vt30.

But then I reminded him he was a butler and told him to feck off.

I bought a Samsung UE32D5000 led tv for the bedroom to replace my 26" one. Very nice. I just need someone to tell me the correct settings for use in a 100 watt lit bedroom now. I've got some tips from t'net but not much and its not a 100% to my liking.

Got it hooked up as a pc monitor. Also to a blu-ray player and SKY HD+.

Exactly same tv that I've got in my gaming room. I did buy a 42" plasma for my room but it was too big so I put that in the living room and now play on the smaller 32" which is much better for my eyes.

You bought this Samsung, right?

I saw it in a sale, couldn't resist. How sexy is the glass stand as well?

My advice is to get LCD, or preferably an LED if your budget can stretch to it. Plasma is the older of the three, and frankly seems a little dated. Not to mention possible maintenance issues you can encounter with a Plasma.

The best television available currently to my knowledge is the new Samsung D8000 series, 3D, LED, 1080p you name it, it's got it, however the sound quality has a lot to be desired, as common with Samsung's, but they also have great sound bars or surround sound systems which I'd recommend if you're paying a lot for a TV. This TV is also the only TV available with 800 Hz frequency, which is pretty amazing and an extreme site better than almost every other TV available.

The other option I'd suggest is one of these LG models, LG Televisions Buy online | Currys which might be slightly cheaper than the Samsung, albeit not as good, but still these TV's are what I would buy.

Modern day plasma tvs rarely need maintenance, that's an old cliche now. Whilst I do prefer the picture quality of my LED to the Plasma downstairs, there are still advantages and disadvantages to owning both.

You can pick up 1080p LCD tvs at some very reasonable prices today as well.

Apart from price, what would you say the advantages of owning a Plasma are? They also tend to be a little clunkier than LCD/LED, but that is elementary when you consider the tanks we had in our living rooms 5-10 years ago!

It's all about preference. I've got a mate who wouldn't touch an LCD tv if you paid him. He's owned both LCDs and Plasmas down the years and prefers the latter. Some people prefer the more vibrant colours and "deeper blacks" that you (apparantly) get with a plasma. Also, things like motion blur seem non-existant on a plasma. But then you've got the downsides i.e. highly reflective screens, screen noise, the possibilty of screen burn, they eat the electricity, extremely heavy and lower life span. And yes, they're definately more clunky as I can testify for the Panny plasma that's in my living room.

I personally can't see an awful lot of difference between the picture of my Panny plasma and the Panny LCD I had before it. Although the specs on the plasma are better so I gave my LCD to my younger brother (his first high def tv as well, he won't be getting anything for Xmas!)

Yeah, she's is a very sexy looking piece. I've had my eye on 'her' for months but the price remained adamantly at £399.99. However last weekend for no reason whatsoever (i.e. xmas) Currys finally dropped it to £349.99.

Got my buy and collect in the night before and was down the shops first thing. I bet they're out of stock soon. :D

If it's a small room you're in then it might be an advantage that it generates a lot of heat.

We bought a new Smart TV and it is quite useful, thought it wouldn't let me browse through a lot of websites but i was wrong! It is like a smart phone on a TV, worth it with all the apps.

Hi lads, looking for some help concerning my TV/audio/PS3 set-up.

I recently got myself the Bose Companion 3 speaker system - great bit of kit and I'm really pleased with it. I was wondering what the best way is to set up the audio output settings on the PS3 to get the maximum performance from the Bose speakers.

Any help or guidance would be appreciated. I can't find anything on Google which deals with this exact issue.

Is it true that Panasonic TVs are gonna drop in price in March? I could've sworn I read something about it months ago, but can't find the article or forum I read it in. I'm gonna get a 42" plasma and the prices are very reasonable atm, but if hanging on for a month means I could get a smart tv for around the same price as a normal one, I'm prepared to wait.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
