Europe's lowest ranked player, Fognini, is some 8-9 places higher than the highest ranked World player.

I wouldn't be that excited if I were you. She's way passed her prime and I really doubt she still has the competitive killer instinct. But I still think she can win a few ATP tournaments, but GS is another story.Extremely excited bout Kim returning. Her and Henin were my favorites. Would be incredible if she managed to come back and win on another return to the tour.
Good story. We all know there are several ways to make a living in tennis besides ATP and challengers: you have the ITF tournaments, but even those are competitive and you also have local tennis tournaments who doesn't even count for rankings.Ranked 556th in a cut-throat world: Stories from tennis’ other side

Decent enough match so far between Thiem and Shapo. Looks like it'll go to a decider.Anyone catching the Laver Cup? This could be fun but the teams are a bit of joke. What has happened to American men's tennis?
There was talk of him having some surgery as he looked injured in Montreal. He may just be delaying it until the end of the season.Fognini is participating on this? Wasn't he supposed to be injured or recovering from injury?
Several aspects of this tournament are cringe (e.g. the player intros just now) but the tennis is surprisingly good - especially for an exhibition-type tournament. The black courts look amazing as well.Decent enough match so far between Thiem and Shapo. Looks like it'll go to a decider.
As for American tennis, all they've got are big servers and bashers. They've got Isner 2.0 in Olelka. Pretty poor state of affairs.
Probably politics considering how Fed and Nadal are both on the same side for that issue.I had a quick google and it seems Djokovic wasn’t invited. Is that down the issues on the Player’s Council or are Europe just embarrassed about the disparity in teams.
Probably because of his shoulder injury, surely that must be the reason.I had a quick google and it seems Djokovic wasn’t invited. Is that down the issues on the Player’s Council or are Europe just embarrassed about the disparity in teams.
There's no way you can call the laver cup a pointless exhibition anymore. Did you see how much Nadal and every other player was invested in the whole thing?Shocked at Nadal for appearing in the pointless exhibition, I know he did it for Fed but he needs to be careful with his body. It also looks like he’s playing Shanghai which for me he shouldn’t even bother regardless of what happened with the number 1 spot as it looks like Djokovic is back practicing anyway.
There was no suggestion of him even being involved before the US Open.Probably because of his shoulder injury, surely that must be the reason.
Shanghai it's an ATP 1000 tournament. The prize money is very good even if he just tanks and defaults at first round (which we know he wont) and it gives much more points.Shocked at Nadal for appearing in the pointless exhibition, I know he did it for Fed but he needs to be careful with his body. It also looks like he’s playing Shanghai which for me he shouldn’t even bother regardless of what happened with the number 1 spot as it looks like Djokovic is back practicing anyway.
Look forward to it though I was surprised when I looked up the head to head. 4-0 to Medvedev, though none of them straight sets.Crazy day of tennis. Tsitspas beat Djokovic and Zverev beat a very annoyed, snappy and whiny Federer (kept fighting with the umpire in the third set).
Medvedev, as expected, beats Fognini.
Djokovic Medvedev would have been great fun but hopefully Tsitsipas gives Med a match as well.
Yeah it's a very one sided H2H but really looking forward to this as all of Thiem, Zverev and Tsitsi have looked a lot better and more confident since Laver Cup. Medvedev ofcourse is the form player on the ATP tour so should be a cracker!Look forward to it though I was surprised when I looked up the head to head. 4-0 to Medvedev, though none of them straight sets.
The Djokovic vs Tsitsipas match was excellent and the Federer vs Zverev match not far behind.
