The debate between Evra and Hasselbaink

Was I the only one that enjoyed watching that? Not often do we see two pundits go all in with defending their opinion the way both did and it made for a very good watch in my opinion. I hope we see this in punditry more often, too often you see them holding back or worse resorting to clichés.

In general I find hasselbaink shit. Takes half an hour to make a generic point. He is also on tv way too much even on the shitty streams I’ve been watching from beinsports.

Today he was perfect though cos he was the opposite of Evra. Who is like the fan who tells it like it is and doesn’t hide behind cliches and playing it safe to not upset fellow pros. Hasselbaink came with his sit on the fence cautious opinion whilst Evra was throwing out truth bombs. Also they stopped Dalglish’ daughter from getting a word in, which is always welcomed.

I think that's largely missing in British sport presentations. You see it all the time in US sports media. Shows like Skip and Shannon, or your average half-time basketball NBA punditry, it's full of strong personalities with strong opinions on the game and it's not restricted. Wish more of that happened in our presentations.

Yeah it was very good in fairness. Reminded me a little of Eamonn Dunphy and John Giles going at it after Champions League games on RTÉ. When well spoken personalities clash respectfully on differing opinions, it makes for great viewing

That's actually what I despise about US sports media. Creating narratives just for views. For example, today, what need did Evra have for asking whether we needed VDB...that's the type of nonsense you get when you promote things like this. Evra's point was pretty idiotic, especially considering how he played in the 2009 team. He's out here acting like SAF never had intentional bore draws. The British Press is already bad enough with how they create nonsense narratives, if you add that culture to it, you will devalue the respect people have for the game. Basketball's saving grace is that advanced stats using play by play metrics make it easy to analyze. Football isn't the same. The game is played on a much wider playing space with lots of specialists with different roles and duties that statistics cannot truly analyze.

Evra 100% correct, Hasselbaink beating around the bush and didn't want to say the truth. Both teams played with cowardly tactics. Its United against Chelsea. You have to play football and try to win and go out to win. Both teams played for a draw basically (definitely Chelsea, took Ole an hour to decide the game is there for the taking).
