The Most Boring Manchester Derby in Football History

That game yesterday was absolutely pathetic from both the players or the management of both clubs, clearly the plan of action for both was to not get beat in a derby this is unacceptable, after the humiliating defeat to RB these players should have wanted to prove something but showed how gutless, spineless and un-manchester united the majority were. Passing backwards, sideways, backward, sideways was so reminiscent of the Louis Van Gaal era, the stats say we had 10 shots the game didn't even feel we had 1 shot. And from the most Mancunian player on the pitch Marcus Rashford you would have thought he would have been up for it yet he was as pathetic as the rest and going down from a weak challenge that I wouldn't call a worthy penalty and was glad it was overridden by VAR.

And then the end of the match with both sets of players hugging and laughing with each other, Roy Keane was spot on with what he said about this and is why we won't be close to a sniff of another title for decades. The weakness of mind in our players is astonishing, Paul Pogba wants to leave and is clear enough with that but still has a better game than most. For me unless these players have a hard look at themselves and play for the badge this season is over. If Harry Maguire was any captain and fan of the club as he says he is as he hasn't shown anything like he did at Leicester, I would advise him taking the entire team to Munich in January and looking at the crash site where Manchester United players died tragically but gave everything for this club in a time where football wasn't even a 1st Job. It really frustrates me when I would rather watch anything else than watching United yesterday.

Someone said on a previous post of mine, United were terrible the last few seasons of Fergie, we were I agree but he still inspired them to get the best out of themselves and wouldn't take this hugging and laughing crap after a result like that. Like I said probably one of the worst Manchester Derby's in History.

The 0-0 under LVG was way worse
Well we looked more likely to score in 2015. Lingard should have buried his chance in the 85th minute.

So result wise yesterday was obviously by far not our worst derby. But boring it was.

The one Hart tipped over? Because that's the only chance I can remember in that game, at least yesterday there were 'moments' for both teams

Think I prefer the 0 0 under LVG, we should have won that game and had the chances, remember Smalling vs Hart late on.

The lack of fans today hurt the match, also both teams were relatively poor, especially City who haven’t got the same intensity and drive that they did some years back.

There were moment but we had 2 shots on target and both teams looked like they just wanted the draw and our team now is considerably better than that team LVG had

I don't know if he got a hand to it but it went off the bar. Closer than we ever were yesterday

I don't often agree with your posts but this one is pretty spot on. It was truly awful. We were fairly solid defensively, but against little real threat.

The Caf, where the only forgivable way to draw against Manchester City is if we hit the crossbar three times. I'm sorry if playing a solid structured game offends you.

So far this season the manager AND the team has been massively criticised after: Wins, Draws AND Losses. You know, they must be feeling the support of the fans so hard. Really lifting their spirits over here. Focusing on the negative like jackals.

Mancher United: The club where you can't do anything right unless you are 2015 Barcelona. 4Wins 1Draw in the last 5 in the league and the bloodhounds are still out.

Imagine being Harry Maguire, playing a really good game yesterday, and still get slaughtered by the fans. Absolutely mental.

Another crazy person, we didn't concede against city, after our slow starts to every game what did you expect, go all out and lose? Take a point and move on,

I found most Manchester Derbies boring with few exceptions to be honest. All of them are mostly very tight games.

Yeah, what a boring negative depressing match. I preferred the derbies in 2011/12. Who wants a 0-0 when we can lose the title in such an entertaining way (entertaining for City) like in 2011/12

Not saying it's wrong toake this kind of thread because there are people who make threads which actually have some useful analysis, but you would hope for more quality when making threads of this nature.

It's been raised in multiple threads after the game. One thing I disagree is I don't blame the players. It's clear to me this was the plan. It is boring and underwhelming approach from both managers.

It wasn't good by any means but there were some under van Gaal and Mourinho which were worse.

Worst in our history?

I've seen plenty of poor derby matches...nothing comes close to 1973 where there wasn't a shot on target and not even a corner. There were probably even worst games going back...

In the 1960's/1970's virtually all the players of both Manchester teams used to socialise together so were always quite pally at the end of games.

And references to the players who died at Munich is quite ridiculous. Firstly all them were full time professionals so no idea where this 'football wasn't a first job' comes in...and all the players understand the significance of Munich.

Another massive over-reaction to an average game.

I agree that the game was passive for most of the 90 but I'm sure it was not one of the worst we've played. It would've been a totally different game had there been even 2000 fans. The game at the Ethiad is going to be epic what with fans returning by then. I just hope we add a few players and keep the undefeated run going until we play City again.
