At the start of a new season, what is the pecking order in the United squad? Who is first on the team sheet? Who are the undroppables? Here is my list (leaving out Rojo and Smalling, and sorting Mata and Lingard under attackers as they are mainly contestants for the wing positions).

Keepers:

1. de Gea
2. Henderson
3. Romero
4. Grant

Defenders:

1. Maguire
2. Bissaka
3. Shaw
4. Bailly
5. Lindelöf
6. Williams
7. Fosu-Mensah
8. Mengi
9. Tuanzebe
10. Dalot
11. Jones

Midfielders:

1. Fernandes
2. Pogba
3. Matic
4. van de Beek
5. Fred
6. McTominay
7. Pereira

Attackers:

1. Martial
2. Greenwood
3. Rashford
4. Lingard
5. James
6. Mata
7. Ighalo

Mine would be pretty much same as yours, except maybe swap Lindelof and Bailly. Lindelof had a torrid game last week but I know he can be better than that. With Bailly I don't fecking know what kind of game that lunatic will play.

My personal one, not Ole’s:

Gks:
1) DDG
2) Hendo
3) Rom
4) Grant

Defenders:
1) AWB
2) Maguire
3) Shaw
4) Smalling
5) Bailly
6) Williams
7) Lindelof
8) TFM
9) Tuanzebe

Midfielders:
1) Fernandes
2) Pogba
3) Matic
4) VdB
5) Fred
6) McTom
7) Mejbri
8) Garner
9) Pereira

Forwards:
1) Mason
2) Martial
3) Marcus
4) James
5) Ighalo
6) Lingard
7) Mata

Looking at this, it just confirms what we all already know. Good first 11, shocking depth except at GK and midfield, attack especially. Also, unless I’m forgetting someone, aside from Greenwood and Chong, do we have 0 attacking starlets coming through?

Looking at that lot, defence looks dire

mf decent

attack thin

did well to finish as well as we did but can’t see us maintaining, never mind improving without additions

GK: De Gea > Henderson > Grant (Romero sold)

FB: Wan-Bissaka > Shaw > Williams > Fosu-Mensah (Dalot sold)

CB: Maguire > Lindelof > Bailly > Tuanzebe > Jones (Smalling & Rojo sold)

CM: Pogba > Matic > Fred > McTominay

AM: Fernandes > Van de Beek > Lingard > Mata (Andreas sold)

FW: Rashford > Martial > Greenwood > Ighalo =/= James

Looking at that, we need a better FW, CB and FB IMO. Phil Jones should also be moved on if we got a CB. That way I'd be relatively happy with having a mimimum two players per position to a degree.
