04/05 Draft and Free Agency (and some trades!)
So, I just realized that quite a few trades actually take place in this game during free agency. The reason I didn't notice is that it puts those trades in the previous year, and I stop checking trades after the trade deadline. Because it's the trade deadline. The only reason I noticed this time is because... well, we'll get to that.
First, the draft! The top 12, anyway.
- Dwight Howard (57 overall) to the Portland Trailblazers
- Luol Deng (55) to the Boston Celtics
- Andre Iguodala (59) to the Indiana Pacers via the Minnesota Timberwolves
- Josh Childress (56) to the Milwaukee Bucks via the Cleveland Cavaliers
- J.R. Smith (55) to the Los Angeles Lakers
- Trevor Ariza (52) to the Los Angeles Clippers
- Josh Smith (53) to the New Orleans Hornets
- Shaun Livingston (46) to the Dallas Mavericks
- Devin Harris (54) to the Indiana Pacers via the Philadelphia 76ers
- Ben Gordon (54) to the Phoenix Suns
- Al Jefferson (43) to the Seattle Supersonics via the Washington Wizards
- Emeka Okafor (55) to the Miami Heat
Free Agency:
@The Cat has signed a new contract with the Seattle Supersonics worth $5.7M/yr through 2008. The Cat knows a good thing when he sees it.
@Stobzilla has re-signed with the Memphis Grizzlies for $3.78M/yr through 2008.
@altodevil has signed with the Los Angeles Lakers for $14.26M/yr through 2009. It's not Seattle, but they
do spend a lot on coaching and physios.
@hobbers has decided he wants to try something new, and so has chosen the newest thing around and signed for the Charlotte Bobcats for $14.44M/yr through 2009.
Trade News (only big trades involving you or your teams)
It seems like the Miami Heat are actually going for it.
@oneniltothearsenal can decide for himself whether this seems worth it.
This marks the first time the 76ers have been Cafite-less since we started this thing. I guess they're tanking, but was it really worth it getting rid of a young, good and not very highly paid
@reelworld? Their loss is his... gain? Time will tell.
A clear statement of intent from the Nets, getting rid of older or worse players, plus some draft picks, to acquire
@sebsheep.
Now
that's surprising!
@weetee just won his second title with the Supersonics, and they decide to turn him into 3 other players (and a worthless draft pick). I guess they might have started regretting handing him that massive contract, though it did lead to a couple of championships.
