07/08 All Star Weekend
07/08 All Star Weekend

First, the updated standings. The @altodevil Lakers are still looking extremely strong in the West, currently on a 15 win streak. @The Cat's Timberwolves are looking quite good as well, though getting past the Lakers might be a bridge too far this year. In the East @hobbers and the Bobcats are looking significantly stronger than previous seasons. His challenge will be that there are loads of good teams in the East; 1-6 in the East would all have been 2nd in the West. The playoffs are beginning to look out of reach for @Skizzo's Supersonics, @oneniltothearsenal's Heat, @Dr. Dwayne's Pacers @Stobzilla's Spurs and @Samid's Cavaliers. Everyone else is in with a shout of making it.

Dunk Contest - no surprises

aF1QYjH.png

3 Point Contest - familiar faces in @reelworld, @P-Nut, @Samid, @V.O., @Solius and @BenitoSTARR.

S9YBGh8.png

1st Round - 4 advance

Kyle Korver: 26
Beno Udrih: 24

vQ7ZwnR.png

22 is probably not enough for reelworld.

V.O. now needs neither of Solius/BenitoSTARR to score higher than 24, and thus force a tiebreak at 24.
yjwqVa0.png

V.O. is out! BenitoSTARR needs at least 25.
OBrGKcz.png

That means a tiebreak round for Solius and P-Nut. Solius really loves his tiebreak rounds.

It'll be Solius, Samid, BenitoSTARR and Kyle Korver in the 2nd Round. Kyle Korver has defeated a bunch of Cafites before, is he going to do it again?

2nd Round - 2 advance

Kyle Korver: 29

Pressure is on for our lads!

QWTT1MX.png

bLWjmL0.png

25 isn't enough for Samid! Is it going to be BenitoSTARR or Solius to face Kyle 'Kafite Killer' Korver in the final round?
jTIu13w.png

It's Solius!

Final Round

Kyle Korver: 24

Not great shooting by Korver, Solius has already bettered that three times today! Is he going to tie BenitoSTARR's 4 contest wins?
O1d2EMb.png

No! What a low-scoring final round. That means Kyle Korver has won the contest twice in the Cafite Era.

All Star Game

Record low Cafite participation in the West, probably because most of you are in the East. The one big surprise absence is perhaps The Cat, who has been making an appearance the last few years (in both this and the NBA Final). @P-Nut and @altodevil are the repeats.

It's a different story in the East, and here's another good indication of the relative strength levels of the conferences this year. There are three players with ratings in the 60s on the East, while it's most of the team in the West. The East Cafites are @BenitoSTARR, @hobbers, @Solius, @oneniltothearsenal, @Samid, @Dr. Dwayne and @V.O..

Nice to see my old team now above my new team. Standard.

Ffs I think my time is over. Maybe my son needs to be born.

Speak for yourselves. I won a ring and now I chill in LA racking up records that will never be broken and playing with other chill guys like Nene.

My guy will probably be in his 60s by the time he drops below 60 rating.

Has there ever been a father and son in the NBA at the same time.

Speaking of LeBron … is he injured?

You make me call you daddy so does that count?

Final standings

iU2sTZO.png

No big surprises in the West, with @altodevil's Lakers, @The Cat's Timberwolves and @P-Nut's Grizzlies making it. The Lakers set a new regular season record with 75-7. Scary. @Stobzilla and @Skizzo were some distance away, but then they were expected to be.

In the East, we've got one Cafite making it who wasn't expected to (@Dan with the Bucks) and one who was expected to make it but didn't (@Samid and the Cavs). Other than that, the most disappointed Cafite is probably @weetee, who didn't make the playoffs with the Hawks' 41-41 record, which would have easily been enough in the West. @Solius & @reelworld might be disappointed to miss it with the Magic (given their playoff record), while @Dr. Dwayne and @oneniltothearsenal shouldn't have expected to make it in the first place.

We've got several making it in the East (@hobbers with the Bobcats, @Salt Bailly with the Pistons, @BenitoSTARR & @sebsheep with the Knicks and @V.O. with the Nets), but they're all on pretty good teams so there's no predicting their playoff results.

EWA - Hammering those wins

Estimate all you want, I'm all about real wins baby.

@sebsheep let me know if you want to retire and let a younger generation take over next season. And also design that younger generation.
Was going to see if I got a ring this season but this message doesn't give me hope

@nimic time for retirement. Will get building out seb jr

hobbers luck unbeaten. Also, our opponent scored just 50 odd points one game. Insane defense.
