So, death panels actually are becoming a thing in this country?
I really think that you should reconsider your flippant use of that type of terminology. Who do you think should be making those decisions when faced with a lack of hospital beds?
Or do you think we should sack off priorities completely and just do it on a first come, first served basis, and if a 14-year old comes in when it's full, then tough shit?

I think there's definitely a case for taking those decisions away from the professionals that are treating the patients. It's pretty hard to remain objective towards the patient and next of kin if you're also tasked with the decision to pull him or her off the ventilator if someone younger/healthier/higher priority for another reason comes in needing a ventilator.

I am just using the same terminology the right did for years regarding panels of somewhat the same ilk. I am not against the existence of panels personally, triage is extremely valuable especially in crisis situations, I am just pointing out the potential change in attitude by the Republicans, what they will say about it if it becomes more widespread in the media.

They already do it for organ transplants. However when you start judging who should and shouldn't be getting preference you start going down a slippery slope there. What if on one hand you have a 21 year old who does recreational drugs and on the other you have a 58 year old father of three who does ironman competitions? Age alone wouldn't solve those moral conundrums when they arise and I certainly wouldn't want to put that pressure on a doctor either. Sometimes, first come first served might be the easiest way to go about things without playing God.

And I'm all out of bubblegum.
What the shitting hell
You haven't been introduced to the master of cringe yet? Oh my, I've got a treat for you.

Here's a sneak peak of what's under the spoiler tag, a painting of Trump teaching a Socialist Justice Warrior college student how to fish. But it gets so much better.

This is an absolute classic:

I prefer this re-imagining by someone else, though:

Even Stalin would say, dude that's a little on the nose init.

Ok maybe Stalin wouldn't say init.
The Finnish communist Arvo Tuominen reported a sarcastic toast proposed by Stalin at a New Year Party in 1935 in which he said, "Comrades! I want to propose a toast to our patriarch, life and sun, liberator of nations, architect of socialism [he rattled off all the appellations applied to him in those days] – Josef Vissarionovich Stalin, and I hope this is the first and last speech made to that genius this evening."

Stick the military in - give them overall guidelines and let them to run the triage assessments - Its not like these guys and gals are not trained to make these decisions and apply those principals and it would allow frontline civilian healthcare to concentrate on frontline civilian healthcare?

He frames it in a way that he is quoting the founding fathers but it is obvious he agrees with their description.

Simple solution made impossible in the US.

You'd imagine the lawsuit of allowing a private john to asses a terminally ill patient and decide which should get which. God forbid people got misclassified (and they will be) and died.

Means justify the ends .... he's a cnut.
He also said that foreign students shouldn't be allowed here to study STEM, only Shakespeare and the federalist papers. He will definitely be the next cnut in line and make no mistake, he is an evil prick.

Extend the corporate liability protection they are passing to include the military?

I don't think such protection exist, nobody is exempt from lawsuit no matter what they made you sign in the first place.

Plus you can't make anyone going into your hospital signs "I won't sue if shit happens because you're being managed by private ryan and not a doctor"

If you had any hope for the GOP post-Trump, realize that this clown is going to be the next face of the party.
Highly doubtful. If Trumpism collapses, anyone who went all in on it will struggle to gain credibility within the party. That includes Graham, Cruz, Haley, and the rest of them. The only one who has managed to slither out of being a full on Trumper while simultaneously not being ostracized for it, is Rubio. Which is why imo he will be a leading candidate to be the face of the party should Trumpism implode.

Even if Trump leaves, I can't see Trumpism fully collapsing when he still enjoys a comfortably solid support in the GOP.

The scandals and people caught up in them might suffer the most but these kinds of hardline right wing people are still going to maintain a strong foothold in the party.

For all his ideological faults, Cotton is scandal free and he didn't exactly wedge his tongue up Trump's crack like Graham so he is less tainted. His brand of hardline conservative ideology will still thrive as long as there is a cold war with China, which is very much likely to dictate American political discourse even under a Biden presidency.

He may have some degree of residual support if the likes of Hannity continue to support him, but if the election unfolds as it appears it may, the GOP will in four years have gone from control of the WH and both houses of Congress to having squandered it all back to the Dems. If Trump loses, his cult status will be severely undermined among a lot of traditional Republicans and the party will be forced to move on with out him, especially if he gets into legal trouble after no longer having the Presidency to shield him from his corruption.
