Rumours of The Undertaker, Stone Cold and Cena making an appearance at Mania too. It seems they are going all out to draw attention before moving to Netflix.
I've said it before, but I'm wanting bloodline rules match for night 2 and full out anarchy with so much interference to stop the bloodlines inevitable interference. It's only fitting romans reign ends like that

Just read that Roman's title reign is just 170 days off of Hogan's record. They might just take the chance to let Roman surpass it.

  • Bruno Sammartino, 2,803 days.
  • Bob Backlund, 2,135 days.
  • Hulk Hogan, 1,474 days.
  • Roman Reigns, 1,299 days (and counting)

I'd like to start seeing this by most title defenses (not including house shows) as the Sammartino and Backlund reigns are quite misleading.

Is there any way to see that?

Just thinking it would’ve been fun to see Sami instead of Seth in this tag match, just because of how big a role he played in the start of this boom period around the bloodline angle and also not having to watch Seth wrestle twice. Downside is he’s a quarter of Rocks size

Sami's use in the mania build up is my only gripe. He should have gotten something bigger. Seth being in the tag match makes no sense but Sami makes sense. Considering it was anyways a tag match, size part wouldn't have mattered.

There is always something. Last year was 'its so close to 1000'. This year, its so close to Hogan.
Next year, it will be so close to 5 full years
then it will be close to 2000, then Backlund.... then etc.

I want to see Night 1 as a sort of Infinity War type story, where the bad guys are triumphant and then all the odds are against Cody.
Then night 2 is Endgame where person after person comes out to even the odds, leaving it to Cody v Reigns where Cody wins.

I'd like to start seeing this by most title defenses (not including house shows) as the Sammartino and Backlund reigns are quite misleading.

But then, back then you didnt have Raw/ SD or monthly PPVs. I believe Reigns has less defences than most, if not all ,above him.

Also another point, the camera work on Raw has been amazing. Maybe cos we dont get that stupid shaky camera shit and cut scene after cut scene.
Some of the shots have been awesome recently. The one where Cody is in the ring and Rock appears through the tron lightning is fantastic.

I'm just starting to realise how much of an impact the Rock had on me and my friends back in the day. I'm again starting to talk and walk like The Rock.

I notice even in the football forum people are starting to use his catchphrases again.

Looking at you @horsechoker

Whenever I eventually do something my daughter has been asking me to do for a while and she goes “Finally…” I just can’t help myself. It’s instinctive. I don’t even know I’m doing it until I have to think about what part of the house I’m in.

Is there any way back for Cody if he doesn't walk away as the winner and new champion at WM after losing last year?

Apparently the Punk/Seth/Drew segment was unscripted and they were only given bulletpoints to talk about and were given creative freedom.

It was great.

Hopefully WWE move towards bulletpoint promos instead of word for word scripted for those confident enough to do it. Guys like Punk, R-Truth, Miz and Drew would be brilliant.

I've thought the same. Not that I mind Seth but I'm completely disinterested in his involvement. His angle with Punk and Drew is much more interesting.

Also Sami vs Gunther somehow seems like a waste/under use of both. Will take back if they put on a match of the night contender which is definitely possible, but feels that way atm.

Think the build outside of the main events has been quite tame overall, but the line up on the other hand looks pretty good. Not overbooked with celeb spots or filler matches like it sometimes has been.

Agree with this. I love Sami but I think the story to be had was chad v gunter unless they wanna go the rock bottom route for Sami (high of mania last year vs low this year with him losing)
They can then build to him winning mitb in Toronto and then going v drew, which would make sense long term. Meanwhile gable can beat gunter at another PLE

The big issue however is Damian priest as mitb. They gotta use that somehow without making him or the champs (both should be new) look like chumps.
Although the "story" could be Cody winning the title ending the longest reign in modern times and then having the shortest reign to follow it up. (Doubt they end mania 40 like that, 10,20,30 all had great celebrations)

See I don't think they would do that but I like it as a way to free up the title and keep Cody as the underdog/keep his "story" going.

Putting the title on Cody could end up killing his momentum and popularity if he's got nothing left to chase or no insurmountable odds left to overcome.

I think more likely Priest takes the other title off Drew, which has a bit of a story to it. Could have Punk be involved in some way (e.g. Drew is distracted celebrating in Punk's face which allows Priest to get a cheap shot in after the match...which is also Priest following Drew's suggestion to wait until the match is finished to cash in). Not really sure who ends up being the face after that though, so probably they won't do that either.

550k likes in 2 hours. Man is super popular.

That was fecking intense but the "Feck him." as he walked away made me laugh.

Punk's line about who picked Drew as the chosen one was great
I almost believe that was off the script. It it wasn't, then Drew is very good at looking uncomfortable.

This is the best Road to Mania in decades.

I thought the Punk/Drew/Seth stuff was one of the best in ring segments that WWE have done for years. It was top drawer stuff.

Rock beating Cody to a pulp was great too, although they need to find a way to work Roman back into things because at the moment Rock has taken over pretty much all the interest. I get that he's basically a supernova of charisma, and was always going to overshadow the others involved, but at the moment Roman may as well not exist.

If I was booking the Seth / Cody / Bloodline stuff at WM40:

Night 1:
  • Rollins vs McIntyre happens early in Night 1
  • Punk is on commentary and interferes, costing Rollins the title
  • This way he can ruin McIntyre's WrestleMania moment because he only won because of Punk -> This then builds to McIntyre / Punk at...whenever
  • Cody isn't seen during the match, he doesn't show up, he doesn't stop Punk, nothing
  • Tag Team match - Seth is flagging because of the match earlier in the night, doesn't do much.
  • Comes to a crucial point and Rollins turns on Cody, costing him the match, and it's Bloodline Rules
Night 1 closes with someone chasing after Rollins to ask why.

Rollins goes off on Cody picking the 'prestige' title over the workers title, over picking a man who doesn't treat the title with respect, unlike him. "My title was the ones the fans respected, the one the boys respected. This title MEANT something as it wasn't just a prop!" something like that. And goes off about how he genuinely wanted Cody to beat Reigns to change things, but saw that Cody wouldn't reciprocate, and so he doesn't deserve to have any title.

Night 2:
  • Cody vs Reigns: Bloodline rules
  • Reigns comes out, sends everyone to the back, match starts and is evenly fought.
  • Cody has chances and Rollins interferes, saving Reigns by attacking the ref, so no count can be made. Rollins leaves.
  • Rock comes down, jumps the ring, and he and Cody fight, whilst Reigns is recovering
  • Cody gets the upper hand until Jimmy Uso and Solo come out, Cody is overwhelmed
  • Ref is still out, and the Bloodline is 4-on-1 battering Cody
  • Music hits (not 100% sure on the order here, but first thought is Austin) and out comes Austin, he stops just before the ring
  • Next music hits - Shawn Michaels comes out, he joins Austin
  • Other fit and able former champs come out, at least 6 or 7 of them, and they run the ring and clear out the Bloodline
  • The legends stay and surround the ring, leaving it just Reigns and Cody
  • Cody wins clean following this

I was trying to get a way for the Rock to turn on Reigns without a physical altercation - does he join the former champs? How could that happen?

But I think this would be an awesome way to (a) have Cody win and (b) have Reigns lose, with a huge spectacle where 'the bloodline' of the title defeats the Bloodline.

And it seems really popular with the people with their current show numbers. Can’t remember who it was in here a few months ago who said the Vince stuff coming out would create a snowball effect and WWE would suffer. Looks laughable now. I remember at the time even thinking people at WWE might actually be relieved because it meant Vince fecking off.

I don’t know where you go from it but Heyman costing Roman and giving Rhodes the title and a double turn is the best thing for all involved.

Good shout. I think Heyman and bloodline turn on Reigns and appoint Rock as the head of the table. Cody wins as a face. Reigns turns a face with Rock continuing his heel story as head of the table.

Missed out on Bridge vs Terry
Also, Sancho won't be a big enough draw. Replace him with Ronaldo and that's your night one main event.
