+ Your club don't attract and got top, best players and talents = they choose others teams.
Example : Sir Alex and Manchester United tried to persuade Jude Bellingham to join them. But he choosed to signed for Dortmund
Ole Gunnar Solskjær tried to buy and get Haaland. But he choose another team

But i think and believe Sir Alex knew Manchester United Golden dominating era was coming to and end. When you persuade and brought Scholes out of retirement. It get to be a big big sign. Your golden era is really closely to come to the end.
Example. When Van Dijk, Salah and now Trent leaving. There are big signs that Liverpool golden era with Klopp will come and end and might take some years. To be a top dominating team.
