It is amazing how Neymar isn't in assists list. Luis Suarez as far as stats are concerned, is the third most impressive player of last decade. Tadic and Payet, are nice inclusions. Angel Di Maria, damn, I was waiting for Neymar, and his inclusion surprised me, it shouldn't have given how good he is as a creator.

And obviously, it is kinda useless, but Messi is unbelievable.

So in the last 10 years Messi has consistently hit 1.39 goals/assists...... that is just ridiculously phenomenal and don't think we will see heights hit like this for a long while. Crazy we have had 2 GOATS competing on the same Generation, will be a sad day when they finally hang it up.

Saurez is surprisingly efficient and didnt think he put out numbers like that. Fair play.

Tadic really could have done better than Southampton... maybe not absolute top but Roma/Sevilla level?

Messi is insane. When seeing the title you just knew he was going to be number 1 combined. Even number 1 in both lists.

He's also the standout dribbler since Opta started compiling their data in 2007 (will have to adjust for 2010-19 but the general point stands), completing the remarkable trifecta of putting the ball in the back of the net, passing it cleverly in the final third and moving with a great deal of poise while in possession...

1. Lionel Messi: 1,880 take-ons completed (57.2%)
2. Eden Hazard: 1,220 take-ons completed (57.1%)
3. Franck Ribéry: 939 take-ons completed (47.9%)
4. Sergio Agüero: 832 take-ons completed (46.6%)
5. Cristiano Ronaldo: 816 take-ons completed (44%)
6. Joaquín: 798 take-ons completed (50.9%)
7. Hatem Ben Arfa: 770 take-ons completed (50.6%)
8. Andrés Iniesta: 739 take-ons completed (60.9%)
9. Roberto Firmino: 736 take-ons completed (56.8%)
10. Neymar Jr.: 734 take-ons completed (50.2%)

Link.

What's it based on, only league games or overall while playing in a top 5 league?

Because going by league alone neymar has 113 goals and 63 assists. 0.65 GPG and 0.36 APG

So i guess he doesn't make your list because of # of games

Says all competitions in top 5 leagues. So loses out on 3 years.

Well, Neymar spent some part of the decade in Brazil & was injured for prolonged periods lately, so I wouldn't be as surprised.

Messi is unreal. I’d never have thought those kinds of stats were even possible in the modern game.

It is based on players who have played on top 5 leagues, but it also includes their stars from other leagues and NT stats.

Another thing is his fitness (especially considering at the beginning of the decade he had a poor diet apparently), if we're lucky enough for someone with as much talent as him come along in our lifetimes, what are the chances of them having such a good injury record during their peak years?

I knew Messi was ridiculous (obviously) but that's still surprised me

We all know Ronaldo/Messi are freaks but damn, Suarez has been crazy good too.

Urgh, di Maria second in assists for the decade, a class player who's ability our club dragged down by wasting his signing on a super cautious, 1 shot on target per game, out of date manager in van Gaal.

And he never wanted to be here, let's not forget that part.

He didnt look like that in the first few games when he was given the freedom to attack before van Gaal started playing super cautious and stuck him out in the left wingback position.
