17 days and 15 disciplines of limb shattering madness on ice is about to commence with the opening ceremony at 6pm BBC2 tonight.

I'll be taking a special interest in the greatest of single competitor sports, The Luge.

Let battle commence.

Apparently us Brits stand quite a good chance of winning a medal maybe two in that, at least based upon the pre Olympics form.

Must be quite a something though, doing that.

I'll be keeping tabs on the Bobsleigh and Ski Jumping in particular myself.

And i imagine that the Curling will have increased attention this time around too.

I'm looking forward to it. :)

Everybody knows it´s all about ice hockey. And the question is: who will be in the final with Canada ?

The Opening Ceremony was excruciating.

Like Eurovision on ice.

And it's still on here becasue NBC refuses to show anything live unless it's in Prime Time. So for the next 2 weeks we get to hear about what has happened online and then get to watch it that night and pretend to be interested.

Horseshit!

BTW - you Brits are coming out now

I haven't seen any luge yet?

I've decided that the luge is probably my best chance of getting a knighthood and will be spending some time over the next couple of years, at the first sign of frost, on the slopes of Forest Hill with my trusty beer tray to guide me along.

Cross Country is the best to watch.

Having competed myself, I know what physical hell it really is.

Speedskating is the thing.

Do you remember that Australian guy from the last olympics? He who won the whole thing cause everybody else crashed into eachother, not only in the final, but also in the semis AND the quarter finals. That was hilarious.

Yeah, not suprised about that though, he usually does this. One has to feel sorry for the kid though as he doesn't have the nerves to deliver when it matters.

Was surpised that the halfpipe went so bad today, only a bronze. The yank who won was in a class of his own, but silver and bronze should have been ours. Another interesting fact was that it was Koski, the weakest of the three IMO, who took the medal. Looking forward to the skijump today, a triple is not unrealistic :)

Mens downhill was quite good today as well, unexpected winner. Sad that Aamodt didnt take a medal though, would have been his 20th.

Quite true.

Always nice to get medals though. We will have 2 after today, how many does Sweden have? :)
