Ruud ftw
My first thought was King for the first goal as well. Think I'll wait for the MUTV highlights rather than watching that again to confirm though.

Some video of the game against Chiasso here -
If you can come to any conclusions from that you're a better man than me, it just gave me a headache...
Thanks for that..

Fwiw, team for the match against Sassuolo on Saturday: Amos, Brown, Dudgeon, De Laet, Wootton (Norwood), Evans (c), Eikrem, James,

Ryan Tunnicliffe came on the pitch in 90th minute and two minutes later he scored the winner!

He was born 30th December 1992. Good and very very young lad ;)

United's youngsters have won the Torneo Calcio Memorial Claudio Sassi-Sassuolo, overcoming Dutch giants Ajax in a tense final on Sunday.

Ryan Tunicliffe stroked home the winner a minute from the end of time, swinging a tight match in the Reds' favour and ensuring that the prestigious youth trophy will travel back to Manchester.

It had seemed inevitable that the Reds would have to go through the nerve-shredding ordeal of penalties for the second time in 24 hours, having overcome FC Modena on spot-kicks after a 1-1 semi-final draw on Saturday.

United's squad was comprised of players born after 1990, plus five over-age players, and quickly made their intentions clear with a perfect record in the group stage.

Local sides FC Chiasso and US Sassuolo were overcome, as were Denmark's Aalborg BK as United took nine points from nine, prior to the weekend's drama.

Congratulations go to coaches Paul McGuinness, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Warren Joyce, Jim Ryan, Richard Merron and, of course, the players themselves.

Tale of the tournament
Group Stage
United 6-0 FC Chiasso
(Ajose 4, Tunnicliffe, King)

United 2-1 Sassuolo
(Brady, Norwood)

United 3-2 Aalborg
(Norwood, Brady, Ajose)

Semi Final
United 1-1 FC Modena
(Morrison)
United won 5-3 on pens (Norwood, De Laet, Eikrem, James, Brady)

Final
United 1-0 Ajax
(Tunnicliffe)
Would have thought the official site could have put a good bit more effort into covering the tournement. Hopefully the stuff shown on MUTV towards the end of the month with be a lot more in depth

It will be interesting to see if United try to snap up any of the young lads who impressed at this tournament (looking at that Barcelona U14 side....lol) before the transfer ban on non-national U18s comes into force.

Couple of terrific freekicks from Brady and Norwood among our goals.

Walter Crickmer started it all...
Having just watched the highlights programme and also done some internet research here is what I have deduced in terms of team line ups.

1. v FC Chiasso

1. Amos 2. Brown 3. Dudgeon 4. DeLaet 5. Wootton 6. Evans 7. Eikrem 8. James 9. Stewart 10. Ajose 11. Brady 12. Moffatt (2) 13. Johnstone (1) 14. Norwood (7) 15. King (6) 16. Tunnicliffe (9) 17. Morrison 18. Hussain (5)

Tunnicliffe scored the 4th goal

Stewart got the 1st goal

Ajose got the 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th goals with the 5th being a penalty.

2-0 at half time and 6-0 full time.

2. v Sassuolo

1. Amos 2. Brown 3. Dudgeon 4. DeLaet 5. Wootton 6. Evans 7. Eikrem 8. James 9. Stewart 10. Morrison 11. Brady 12. Moffatt (2) 13. Johnstone 14. Norwood (5) 15. King (7) 16. Tunnicliffe 17. Ajose (11) 18. Hussain

Brady scored the 1st on 29 mins

Norwood scored the 2nd

Both Wootton and Moffatt were booked

1-1 at half time and 2-1 at full time

3. v Aalborg

1. Johnstone 2. Moffatt 3. Dudgeon 4. De Laet 5. Wootton 6. Norwood 7. Eikrem 8. Tunnicliffe 9. Ajose 10. Morrison 11. Hussain 12. Evans (4) 13. Amos 14. Brady (3) 15. James (6) 16. Stewart (8) 17. King (9) 18. Brown (5)

Norwood scored the first, Brady the second and Ajose the third

1-2 at half time and 3-2 at full time

4. v FC Modena

1. Amos 2. Brown 3. Dudgeon 4. Evans 5. De Laet 6. Norwood 7. Stewart 8. James 9. King 10. Ajose 11. Brady 12. Moffatt 13. Johnstone 14. Eikrem (10) 15. Wootton 16. Tunnicliffe (2) 17. Morrison (9) 18. Hussain

Morrison scored our equaliser

0-1 at half time and 1-1 at full time

Penalty takers in order were Norwood, De Laet, Eikrem, James, Brady

5. Final v Ajax

1. Amos 2. Brown 3. Dudgeon 4. Evans 5. De Laet 6. Norwood 7. Stewart 8. James 9. King 10. Ajose 11. Brady 12. Moffatt (2) 13. Johnstone 14. Eikrem 15. Wootton 16. Tunnicliffe (11) 17. Morrison (9) 18. Hussain

From the photos it looks as though Moffatt, Morrison and Tunnicliffe were the subs with Tunnicliffe replacing Brady and scoring the winner in the last minute.

Obviously 0-0 at half time and 1-0 at full time.

Finally Ajax won the Fair Play Trophy

Did Ajose definitely get four in the first game? Was sure when I watched it last night that he 'only' got three and Stewart, Tunnicliffe and King all got one each. Might well be wrong though.

Think it's on again tomorrow, will have another look.
