First off, sorry for the dreadful thread title. Total writer’s block.

So much as I hate Liverpool, I have been impressed by how they’ve mined transfer gold from mid-to-lower table teams: VVD and Mane from Southampton; Robertson from Hull; Shaqiri from Stoke; Winaldum from Newcastle, to name the most obvious examples.

So my question is: what similar types could we be looking at? Is there someone like VVD, who is obviously ready to step up (Neves or perhaps Felipe Anderson seem the obvious choices here,) or maybe a slightly unheralded talent in the mould of Robertson (perhaps Ake?)

Thoughts?

Players ready to move to a top six contender would go down great

This thread will actually be very interesting to keep an eye on and see who turns out to be right.

David Brooks from Bournemouth has looked a decent little player the few times I've seen him this season.

Harry Maguire would fit in nicely. Zaha would also be a fun signing, though not sure if he’s at his best on the right wing. Wan-Bissaka is a good shout, we need two good right backs (him and Dalot who’ll develop into one soon enough I reckon).

My favourite would be Ruben Neves. Perfect replacement for Matic.

I see what you're saying but how many flops have Liverpool bought from lower clubs? You throw enough shit at a wall it will eventually stick.

We have enough sqaud players. We need instant starters and players of THAT quality are usually snapped up early. However, there is Neves.

Paul Pogba really like the look of the lad.

Ake is ready to step up if he carries on, Bournemouth do leave their defence exposed at times but he is a great player, I still find it hard to believe that Chelsea let him go.

My fear is that Liverpool will go after him in the summer.

Neves is having a poor season this season compared to his breakout championship season. In fact Nuno dropped him against Fulham due to this.

Zaha is not nearly good enough.

These are the players i'd take from lower level clubs, either for first team or squad options

Crystal Palace - Wan-Bissaka,
Bournemouth - Brooks, Ake
Southampton - Hojbjerg, Bednarek
Wolves - Ruben Neves
Fulham - Sessegnon, Thorsteinsson
Everton - Calvert-Lewin
Watford - Deulofeu
West Ham - Oxford

Just a few I can think of

We often saw SAF sign these kinds of players when he was in charge and have great success with them.

Apart from the obvious ones which have already been discussed in other threads e.g Maguire, Ndidi, Neves

I think Doucoure would be great for a top 6 side.

I agree, Ruben Neves and Maguire should be acquired, they would fit us like a glove

As I recall, many here turned their noses up at Mane and Van-Dijk. Van-Dijk was a headless chicken whose level was Celtic/Southampton, and Mane was inconsistent (which tbf he was). Basically, what the hell do we know?

Here's a few I think are ready to step up in the PL:

1. James Maddison
2. Wilfred Ndidi
3. Ben Chillwell
4. Declan Rice
5. David Brooks
6. Wan-bissaka
7. Walker-peters
8. Ricarlison
9. Phillip Bilong
10. Michael Obafemi

Any of these would make effective long term additions.

Domingos Quina - will be at a top club eiyhiw 2 years.

Richarlison - probably too expensive to move yet, but would do very well for a bigger club.

Felipe Anderson - too good for West Ham.

Felipe Anderson would be £60m+

Wan-Bissaka for sure because RB is a problem point at the minute (at least, until Dalot develops).

Ricardo Pereira at Leicester is another RB having a great season but he signed for them this year so again he'd be a lot.

He looks like a Pochettino-Spurs type player.
Young,technical,full of energy and confident.

It's funny because I agree, I think he would be a Dele Alli type player in his setup. If we get Pochettino in the summer, i'd keep an eye on that.

Maddison would be sweet, he's a lovely player, just don't know where we'd play him

Not many are good enough, but a few names I can think of is Maguire, Docherty, Doucouré. Declan Rice might be one for the future

My choice for a defender would be Harry Maguire. I personally think he is England's best central defender. Has a very good understanding of the game, quintessentially English and future leadership material. Time for him to step up.

Still undecided on Filipe Anderson.
Richarlison though seems to be improving more and more everytime I watch him.It was a risky move on Everton's part ,due to the fee, but its paying dividends.

I've always been a fan of Felipe Anderson. Think he'd do well here, but perhaps no longer my first pick these days.

Declan Rice is one to watch. Only seen bits of him and thought he looked good.

Morgan Gibbs-White another to keep an eye on.

I also think Hudson Odoi, even though he's at Chelsea, but I think he's got what it takes to play for a top team if given chances.

Brooks (Bournemouth)
Richarlison
Neves
Wan Bissaka
Maguire

Van Dijk, Kane, Salah, Eriksen, De Bruyne, Aubameyang, Fernandinho and Robertson all look well capable of making the step up to a bigger club.

I'm still fuming that we didn't go for Mahrez. He'd fit in so well at our right side in Ole's set up.

We'll probably have to look for a right sided forward abroad.

As many have said, Harry Maguire should be bought to bolster our defense.

Currently out, due to long term knee injury, but Lewis Cook, looked a real prospect.

There are loads good enough. You could literally come out with a top four contesting 11

Kasper Schmeichel
Wan Bissaka
Diop
Maqure
Chilwell
Neves
Doucore
Seri
Anderson
Richarlison
Zaha

You should be fuming that we didn't go for Hazard when he was at Lille. Mahrez is nothing special, Jadon Sancho is the real deal.

I always thought Moutinho would be a success in the PL and with Wolves he's been very much that.
Just a shame we didnt take a punt on him earlier in his career.

We did go for Hazard but SAF didnt want to pay the 6m agent fee. Chelsea paid it and he ended up with them

Basically any good player from a mid table club.

Neves
Docoure
Richarlison
Zaha
Anderson
Maguire
Chilwell

The only ones who to me look like they have elements of consistency to match obvious talent so far are

Declan Rice
Wan-Bissaka
Neves

Doucoure I think is a decent player but has a lot of flashes over consistency but I obviously don’t see every game.

Maguire would improve us no doubt right now but I am not a major fan of his. Think he is overrated by English media/fans a bit
