Apparently its supposed to take place later this year in Nairobi. This will be a watershed moment for both fighters. Losing to Roy Jones would probably end Tyson's careers as a contender. Should be a crackin fight. ;)

You have to wonder if Tyson's just in it for a paycheck. In his prime, he would have demolished Roy Jones.

I'm sure its for the money. I read somewhere that his annual gardening bill at one of his Conneticut estates alone was 250k. I think he's going to get in the ring as long as the moneys there. And when he quits boxing, he'll commit some crime and wind up in prison for life.

He's got serious tax problems as well as a couple of ex-wives. His fight money usually goes to the government. Don't see many prospects for him when he quits boxing. I can't see him greeting people at a casino, playing golf, or doing commentary at boxing matches. I think he'll be dead or back in jail before long. It's kind of sad - he never really had much of a chance being as crazy as he is.

My thoughts too. What a farce. But people will still pay 20 squid ppv the world over to line King's pockets further.

not at all kenny, he's just laying the groundwork for getting himself elected as a public official

I think the self destruction of Tyson started when Cus D'Amato died...he loved Tyson and treated him like a son...he instilled discipline and tough love into Tyson...just a shame...shortly after his death, King entered Tyson's life...and then Tyson fired all of his training staff...another bad move...Tyson could have been the greatest ever...if Cus was around another 5 years, King would never have gotten his tentacles around Tyson...and the rape thing probably would never have occurred...and the Douglas farce never occurs either...although Tyson did win that fight, but the ref didn't start the count on Douglas for 3 seconds(count to 8, but really was 11)...but, you win some you lose some...

We'll never die, we'll never die
NEW YORK -- Two men who brawled with Mike Tyson at a Brooklyn hotel menaced him first by telling him they were armed, lawyers alleged Thursday at the boxer's arraignment.

One told Tyson, "You've got fists, we've got guns," both prosecutors and defense attorneys said at Tyson's arraignment in Brooklyn criminal court.

But prosecutors also informed a judge they have a security videotape that shows the ex-heavyweight boxing champion responding to the taunts by hunting down the unarmed men and punching them out.

"His subsequent actions went well beyond what is permitted by law," said prosecutor John 0'Mare.

Tyson pleaded innocent to misdemeanor assault, harassment and disorderly conduct charges. If convicted, he faces up to a year in prison.

The boxer refused to speak to reporters as he left court. Some bystanders cheered before he ducked into a red Hummer.

Defense attorney Mel Sachs had told state Supreme Court Justice John Carter his client's actions were justified, given the threat of weapons.

"Mike Tyson was provoked," he said. "His conduct was justifiable. In fact, he showed restraint."

Prosecutors countered that the assault case was backed by the accounts of several witnesses, including hotel employees, and the videotape. The judge ordered the tape turned over to the defense, and set a pretrial hearing for Sept. 30.

Samuel Velez and Nestor Alvarez-Ramos face menacing charges for allegedly threatening Tyson at 5:30 a.m. June 21 outside a downtown Brooklyn hotel while the boxer was waiting for a ride to the airport.

A lawyer for both men, Earl Brown, refused to comment on the alleged gun threat. But he predicted the videotape would help clear his clients because it shows Tyson pursuing them into the lobby, where he "viciously attacked" them.

The tape captures Tyson knocking one of the men into a reception stand, punching the other, pausing to take off his coat, then resuming the attack, authorities said. At one point, he chases one of the men around the check-in desk and continues the assault, they added.

That's that then

Spot on..

He's had a very tragic life...

Lost both parents as a kid....then lost Cus, who like you've pointed out was like a father, (didn't his trainer die n'all...? they were also very close)..... since then, had blood-suckers around him...such as King, Robin Givens and his mother-in-law....

Also tried to commit suicide, before the Douglass fight..... he had soooo many problems, pre-fight....that it was no surprise he looked totally out of shape..both physically and mentally.

Must say, there are plenty of people in boxing who say, he didn't rape that lass......(she was dancing around next day...hardly the way a rape victim would act) apparently, he paid for Kennedy's nephews crimes, as they didn't like the idea of two high profile not guilty rape verdicts...

I've never seen such a destructive fighter.....sadly for boxing, he's not been the same since he lost his ability to twist/swivel.....now he's just a punch-bag with a powerful punch.

PS....He's the best I've ever seen on the speedball and speed-ropes........

he's still awesome in the gym...
