3-2 with Kingdon grabbing the winner in the 89th minute. Not sure who scored the first - have been too busy with the City-game but Gore equalized to 2-2

edit: Fitzgerald scored our first. Lacey with the assist for both our goals in the 2nd half

Thanks for that.

I was trying to follow the game while watching United v City, but hadn't realised Lacey had got two assists for the goals. That's good news, as I like what I've heard of him, and the bits I've seen of him so far.

Pleased for Fitzgerald as well, getting what I think is his first goal for the U18's.

Is Lacey someone worth starting getting hyped for?

Lacey looks a real talent! Shades of Foden about him and only 15 I believe

The Lacey=Foden stuff is based entirely on some Twitter/Tiktok footage of him taking the piss out of amateur players in an indoor game recently, isn’t it?
Maybe it's just because they're diminutive and left footed. That's enough for a lot of people to make comparisons. He does look talented though. I've only ever seen clips, do you know how he plays throughout a game?

The comparisons have been being made for a fair bit longer than that (not saying that means they're necessarily any more valid!)

No idea. All I’ve seen of him was a brief cameo from him in our Youth Cup defeat.
There's a resemblance in running style for sure, both with the ball and without. Both of them glide across the pitch. Technically very good on the ball and in tight spaces so you can see why the comparisons are made. Although Lacey is a dead ball specialist too.

It will be interesting to see how he adjusts to U18s as he still lacks the physique understandably so at 15. I could be wrong but i have a feeling we will bring him in for the odd U18s games here and there and next year he will be promoted fully.

Foden was tearing up the U18s level at the same age so they are definitely not *that* similar.

I feel like people should appreciate Lacey's talent (and be patient with it!) rather than bringing bs comparison.

Not disputing that Foden may have been the bigger talent but Lacey was 8 months younger than Foden was at the time of his U18 debut (he's still younger now). Lacey doesn't even turn 16 until April. Lacey has plenty of time to show what he's about.

Nobody is saying he's as good as Foden was at 15. But that some of their playing behaviours and skill sets are similar hence the comparisons. Don't think anything daft has been said thus far.

Yeah, that's how I read most of the 'comparisons' for youth players v established players. It's not saying they're already at that level, or predicting that they'll ever get to that level. It's just saying which established players they're in the mould of, have similar skill sets to (not necessarily to the same level, of course).

Top players are generally used as a descriptor of a young players style - is he more of a Carrick, Scholes, Pogba CM? Is he more of a Cole or Sheringham type striker? Etc. Not normally a suggestion that they'll ever reach those levels, just gives an idea of the kind of playing style and physical / technical attributes of the young players.

This Is just a big fat lie. Foden made his debut at 16 yrs and 3 month while Lacey is not yet 16. For context Lacey would only be 16yrs and 4 months at the start of next season. So you should wait until next season before you start comparing performances.

And when people mentioned similarity they meant in terms of style of play not ability. 2 players can be stylistically similar without being equal in ability.
