Why not use the extra seats to really engage with the local area and charge £20 a go?

With all the food and drink alongside all the merchandise, they'd still make loads.
I think with 90-100k seats you can afford to do both. Have a whole single tiered stand that is dedicated to locals at fair prices. Say 30-40k seats.

Then look to cash in on the remainder, which is still more seats than almost every other ground in the league.

Very exciting news. With all that said, if there is a new stadium, there's no chance they'll actually name it New Trafford, right?

The Spurs home game where Ratcliffe and Ferguson were sat next to each other, I noticed Michael Moritz was on the other side of Ferguson, who is a very good friend of Ferguson and co-wrote Leading with him.

He is Chairman of Sequoia Capital which is a venture capital firm specialising in the tech industry, and very recently he invested $300m into a San Francisco urban regeneration project.

May be just a coincidence since him and Ferguson are friends, but I can see him and Sequoia being part of this Old Trafford regeneration project.
Damn I just googled him, ferguson chilling with some big dawgs

There should be as many affordable spaces as possible.

Hospitality packages (exec boxes etc) will still bring in the extra £. Sponsorship of those exec areas is a potential goldmine.

Extra space presumably means you can bring catering in house. That's an another interesting opportunity. Having a massive restaurant/bar open all year is also worth looking at.

In the middle of a long lasting cost of living crisis, the club has an opportunity to do something important for matchgoing fans. State of the art facilities are important but so is atmosphere and creating somewhere where working class parents can take their kids more than once a season.

Seeing a match at Old Trafford is one my bucket list, so it looks like I should try to make that happen in the next few years.

Wait, what? Spurs don't actually have a cheese room??
I thought the scrapping of the VIP cheese room idea was the joke. Wasn't it?
Spurs form nose dived after the news of the scrapping of the cheese room in the 2018-19 season

Spurs had 20 wins 6 losses before the no cheese room news came out on 11 Feb 2019.
3 wins, 2 draws, 7 losses after 11 Feb 2019.

Who is paying for this? Or are we going to take on even more debt?

Difficult to see how the club could take on more debt with the Glazers' debt still sat on the balance sheet (for which OT is prime collateral). I think it is more likely that Ineos will finance it together with other third parties.

Opposition fans are crying because it’s going to be tax payers money by the looks of it. They get around that by regenerating the area and making it a national stadium used for more than just man united.

The only team that matters
We should go for 100k instead of 90k. First 100k capacity stadium in the UK has a nice ring to it.
Except it wouldn't be the first 100K stadium in the UK

That image deserves a caption competition.

"And then he said something about twisting melons, like this I imagine, even though he wasn't holding any melons nor was he even invited to the meeting."

....shit, I've already lost the competition.

I think a new stadium in the same spot is the best of both worlds for me. I'd be sad to see us leave that exact site like many, but renovating Old Trafford doesn't look to be the best bang for your buck.

So where is the club getting the funds for this from, it cant be 100% tax payer funded and they cant borrow on top of the existing debt? Are INEOS going to pay for it then lease it to the club rent free?

I can see the proposed new training ground being called the INEOS Training Centre, but I don’t think they’ll put naming rights on the stadium, unless a quite frankly ridiculous high offer comes in from a company for it.

I hope we stay clear of the trendy toilet bowl/bed pan designs. Spurs' stadium is crap.

I Just read an article in which he wrote about Man Utd’s sale, which ofcourse pointed at the Glazer’s laughable selling price and bad facilities.

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/...nt-and-the-price-tag-is-unrealistic-rht27nqzt

The last sentence read as follows:
‘Michael Moritz is a partner at Sequoia Capital and a Manchester United fan’.

Very exciting news!

I'd been in two minds up until the INEOS investment. Their sheer determination from the off to build a new stadium that would be considered 'best in class', is a breath of fresh air.

The Glazers would only have patched Old Trafford up in places once serious health and safety issues developed.

I truly love Old Trafford. It's one of the most iconic stadiums in the world. However, there are simply too many problems that realistically, cannot be solved, i.e. More leg room, larger concourses, extending the South Stand.

So the new stadium will be at the same location as Old Trafford, right? How long did it take to build the Spurs stadium and where would we play in the meantime?

Jimmy/Ineos will likely finance this. Probably a £3b loan. We know they have plenty of finance options. The better the stadium the quicker it pays for itself.

It won’t be on the club, but it strengthens Jimmys position in terms of shares. If not all revenues go to Ineos.

They will want the government to assist with infrastructure, housing, etc
