Some on here scoffed when told Williams was on £65k a week and would earn more than most Southampton first team players.

We really do overpay some players and hopefully Pogba isn't listed as he's off.

If McTominay signed a five year contract at £20k a week last summer, he needs a new agent.

I remember Williams being reported at £60k a week at the time, although I can’t see how Lingard is only just above that.

Few interesting observations:

Chilwell the highest paid Chelsea player.

Partey on the same wage as Aubameyang.

Mane gets half the wage of Salah (and Thiago).

Ndombele on the same wage as Kane.

Opportunities to lower wage bill and what that could/should get us.

Lingard and Martial - Lautaro Martinez
Jones and Lindelof - Cristian Romero
Mata - Camavinga
Fred - Neves

Simple.

I really don’t believe McT is getting 20 k.

I remember a huge debate 3-4 seasons ago when Lingard got a new contract at 100K (or 105K). Lots of fans jump onto his worthiness. It was revealed that 105K was only after CL qualification (not sure he got that part last season by playing elsewhere?), and basic wage was around 85K. I supported this wage level as he still played a part under Mourinho.

That list has to be wrong. For example, it's well known that Bruno is on around £100,000 per week (some sources reporting even less that). Hell, that's one of the reasons why the club wants to reward him with a new bumper contract.

Rightly so.

It's a crap source and the deal is reported "he earns upto/max 65k per week" which includes all bonuses. He doesn't even play, how will he trigger all those bonuses.

People should read the reported wages carefully when journalists are so clever with word play.

Where we stood

https://www.spotrac.com/epl/payroll/

2nd to Chelsea at £154,815,000 per year

Individual players

https://www.spotrac.com/epl/manchester-united-fc/payroll//

DeGea and Martial lead the way though HUGE MISS there’s no Pogba listed!

I dunno how accurate the overall figure is but I thought it would be interesting to talk about how much we pay our young players like Williams and Tuanzebe
It's a crap source btw.

Kante earns around 300k and it's reported by Chelsea's mouthpiece, Matt Law.

I'm not sure of the validity of that data considering they say Declan Rice is on 3k per week

Chelsea (the saviours of football) fan.
Some of those Chelsea wages are wildly different from what other sources made up.

I'm not sure whether to believe these made up figures or the other ones.

The only thing we know for sure is that individual player wages are never disclosed so this is all a load of bollocks.

If you flip into 2020/21, Pogba is 2nd on the list at £290,000/wk.

This website has very different figures, here's McTominays and Williams figures, that seems a little more accurate no?

Although DDG, Pogba, Martial might play some factor for it since those three are our top 3 highest earner but I think the no 1 factor is the fact we & Chelsea have so many deadwood players who are still in the clubs. I hope we can get rid lot of them this summer. Tough one since lot of teams are affected by covid.

Even less than 100k? Maybe he could do some hours down his local to supplement his income a bit.

I do agree though really. In my experience your English media tends to over-inflate the salaries we pay while under-inflating the salaries paid by rivals in an attempt to make us look bad. I think you could take 20% off most of what’s listed for ours and add it on what’s listed on others. DDG for example is not on anything like 375k. It’s 250k is my understanding.

I’m sure that site is mostly bollocks anyway but City’s total is laughable.

If we could only offload some deadwood. I wonder now with our 2 big signings, how it will impact our finances and wage bill

Yep, this looks more believable.

This is why I think we should sell Pogba and DDG. I wouldn't mind moving on Martial as well, though I think he just about deserves another chance.

On that list, Maguire and Rashford deserve their salaries, being two of our three most important players. The other one - Bruno - is underpaid at the moment. But I'm sure that will change soon.

It says something about the footballing economy Vs real life that I looked at Mason's wage and felt sorry for him, before realising that he makes more in a month than I make a year.

Yeah let's sell James  weaken our RW position and save barely any wages.

Or we could loan out Tuanzebe, try to get rid of Jones and loan Williams. Would save much much more and be a much more sensible bet.

Pretty certain that 1st source is wrong. The one posted by RedSky is more in line with what I had believed to be accurate. Football Manager db seems to be pretty much in agreement with the 2nd source also. It is a game but it's extremely well researched and they tend to get this sort of information correct.
