The problem at United is much worse than we think. If players do not seem to want to play for the manager, then it really does not matter who the manager is or how good he is. Looking at the inconsistent performances at United, it is hard to imagine that the players genuinely want to play for this manager. So what do you do next? Do you:
- Back the manager and accept that it will likely get worse before it gets better?
- Back the players over the manager on the basis that it is easier?
- Let results and performances dictate what you do next?
