I remember at one point they were almost 20 points clear of the second place and I checked the table today and they're behind Palmeiras? Anyone who follow the brazilian league can explain this collapse?

The coach responsible for the early season form, Luis Castro, was poached by Al Nassr. It was Bruno Lage coming in started to derail everything.

He was still in a great position after a Caçapa interim stint, but results declined under Lage and he was sacked.

They haven’t been able to pick things up under successive coaches and Palmeiras and Bragantino both started to put runs together

It's been beautiful to behold. Pure Newcastle over that dip in form.
Against Grêmio they were 3-1 up, and lost 3-4
Against Palmeiras they were 3-0 up, and lost 3-4 like 10 minutes into added time.

As Maluco mentioned the change in manager ruined them. Think they have ~10 points from the last 13 games.
Think Palmeiras will win it, but Flamengo and Grêmio both have solid form at the moment.

Botafogo might still drop to 6th.

They’ve had something like 5 different coaches this season, including ex Wolves manager Lage
