Two questions I have about our squad of players
1- how is it that under 3 managers now they look like they work on nothing during the week? It's not even the same sets of players either, this side now looks vastly different to the one LVG had and has enough changes in it from the one Mourinho had and yet nothing changes. We still rely on moments of magic (Martial v Wolves (and then Pogba v Wolves winning the pen), James v Palace and Southampton, Greenwood v Astana) to score goals rather than have any consistency with our attacking. People call our players a bunch of individuals rather than a team but I've seen individuals thrown together for testimonials and the likes that play better attacking football than us.
2- Confidence. How is it again that 3 different sets of players have such low confidence? Focusing just on the current group how do you go from the football/confidence they showed during those first few months under Ole to how they ended the season? How do they go from a good pre-season and an opening day spanking of Chelsea to where we are now just 5 games later? Regardless of whether these players are good enough to finish top 6 they're capable PL players but there's teams in the bottom half of the table that dont have such fragile mental toughness as our lot do.
How is it Di Maria went from being a star at Real Madrid to looking worse than Ashley Young at United and then straight back to being a star at PSG? How is it Pogba who always excels for France but often produces 6/10 performances for us? Even the likes of Maguire and AWB look worse for us now than they did last season for Leicester and Palace respectively.
