What should the championship be renamed to?

I think we can all agree it's a silly name, considering its resemblance to the champions League and implies it's the top league when it isn't. Also it matches the premiership name which isn't used any more.

I think the premier league should obviously keep its name and the championship should be renamed to something such as the nonchampionship

Agreed, my dad doesn't follow football that closely and gets Championship and Champions League mixed up.


How about Premier League 2?

Leverage that Premier League brand.

Rename the whole football league:

Premier League
Premier League 2: Electric Boogaloo
Premier League with a Vengeance
Premier League and the Goblet of Fire

And the "National League" needs to go back to being the Vauxhall Conference, because even though it's had about 50 different names and sponsors since then, it's still the Vauxhall Conference, so just call it that.

Seriously though, it's weird that the 3rd and 4th tiers are called League 1 and League 2. Who named these? Xbox?

There's an argument to be had that the Premier League is an entirely different enterty to the English Football League.

That would make the Championship the top flight of the EFL with the PL an add on.

I'm not sure where you stand with this?
