When will we next score from a corner in the league?

Tonight. Or against Leeds, they have a terrible set piece record.

Ole would be a fool to not spend the entirety of tomorrow and Saturday practicing set-pieces only. We could beat Leeds using that alone.

I don't think we are struggling to deliver from corners this season. Maguire definitely got several free headers from them.

Our set pieces at both ends are genuinely shocking. Take out any other feelings about the team, focusing purely on this without any bias, we are undoubtedly rubbish at them

Once we get Jones back on corners.

clearly we very rarely score from corners, but has the no. of goals from corners generally decreased, it feels like it has done quite significantly.

We're shite at corners. I made a thread last year on this exact issue and we've arguably got worse since then. For all our height and quality we're shockingly bad.

Yeah we are poor in both boxes whether it comes to corner or set pieces and there are no signs of that improving which is very worrying to say the least and could cost us even more against better opposition than Sheff Utd

We've always been a bit shocking from corners. When was the last time we were genuinely good at them? Beckham?

I'd give up crossing it and start passing it

Does anybody have stats on goals conceded from set pieces since start of last season. I can't believe this isn't being spoken about all the time. We are just awful defending them

Think fergies last season, when we had rvp or nani on them.

Tbh i don't think it's a matter of bad takers. Forget who it was but a while ago i heard one of our ex-players say Sir Alex picked who went up in the box based on who knew how to attack the ball offensively, not just who was big/good at heading away. We have some tall players, but our players are completely garbage at heading it in an attacking sense. Bruno is pretty good, hasn't shown much here but he's had a few moments and he was good in Sporting with it. Pogba isn't awful. Cavani of course has shown it already. The rest are awful. Rashford and Greenwood are pretty useless in the air (Martial less so, he's shown some decent moments but not too often), Maguire and Lindelof are just the types who get their head on things but don't know how to shoot with their heads or get any power or direct them, and so we end up doing feck all from corners.

Don't disagree but I also think it's a combo. In our last season Evra was even getting goals due to good delivery

He knew how to attack the ball offensively! Guy knew how to time his jumps and had a great leap on him, and knew how to head it in an attacking sense. So did Vidic. Rio less so. Van Persie wasn't great offensively in the air but was excellent defensively in the air. Its why he took a lot of corners.

Having a good taker is always important, but we've had plenty of them over the last 7 years who just have not led to success for us. Young was a specialist at set pieces at Villa. Mata got loads of assists when he had Drogba/Ivanovic to pick out. Di Maria, Bruno, Telles etc. Plenty of good corner takers, though I guess we've also fecked around with using Shaw/Jones to take them for whatever reason so that doesn't help.

Bruno and Telles should be on just about every set piece if they're on the field. Its just dumb not to use their talents with them.

Yep, that's why I say it's a combo.

I do wonder how much we work on it. Would love to see some training sessions to see what focus is on and what's neglected

We probably look good taking corners in practice because we are awful at defending them in games

We're more likely to score following an opposition corner.

A baby step at a time, I will settle for not conceding at corner first.

Just as I said our delivery from corners have been great this season. We just missed several easy free headers and stuff from it.
