Who is to blame for our appalling/shambolic transfer decisions?

The man in the shadows who sanctions the financial side of transfers plus players contracts and extensions is Matt Judge, rarely if at all features in the club or external media. Not everything on the footballing side is down to Woodward, if you like Judge is the man behind the throne.

Think about this guys. It's 6 years and we are in still in rebuild mode. Its been the case for the past 6 fecking years. What big club out there allows that to happen.

It is the 4th manager in them 6 years and each change their Philosophy and want to bring in their own players. The right manager and Longevity is what we need and I think Ole is the right one.

Ed Woodward and co.
He unilaterally decides that your targets are not suited or good enough and then, he finds no alternatives.

If Mou had got his way we would now have even more aging crocks than we have now, with Willian, Perisic and Alderweireld. Oh, and we would have sold Martial.

Woodward was doing his job as CEO perfectly when he recognised Jose's short-termism and vetoed it for the good of the club.

They are saying that the new DOF will still have to answer to Woodward. So he will be a puppet then, better off having none it seems.

Who is to blame?

Solskjaer, apparently, given the amount of people on here who already want him sacked before he's had his own transfer window...
Funny that isn't it. How many people want solskjaers head on a plate already, whilst blaming the previous managers for shite signings and everything else that's wrong at the moment. Give the bloke a fair chance before demanding him sacked. I think he'll do well if he is given a break and some time. Rome wasn't built in a day, neither will United.

It’s fascinating seeing the complete list all bundled together like that. Really highlights the absence of joined-up thinking.

It’s never as simple as them all being just “bad” players though (although some of them are). There have been plenty of Liverpool, City, Spurs signings from the past few years who have done well but, had they gone to United in that time, would probably have been well in among all the flops on this list. Some fairly uninspiring player like Wijnaldum, for example.

But they were brought into their clubs to do a specific job, in a well-defined system, based on joined-up thinking. Nobody has had that luxury here.

Any person in that role would have to answer to someone in Woodward's role. What gave you the impression that it wouldn't be the case? The Glazers could sack Woodward and replace him and the DoF would still report to the replacement.
