If you don't mind a Gooner intervening in this Mancs v Scousers spat, the original thread was ' Why Liverpool will be Champions'....obviously just a wind up from a gloating Scouser, but understandable since they haven't won a title since 1990.But ,let's assume it's a serious (semi ,anyway) statement meant to stimulate debate.

Objectively :

Positives for you Scousers -

a)You are unbeaten.
b)You are 4 points clear.
c)You appear difficult to beat.
d)You should not be troubled by CL football after this Group 1 stage,so you can concentrate on the league.

so far so good......

Negatives -

a)Only 11 matches played ffs
b)Although I think you'll finish higher than the Mancs,I just can't see you maintaining your record against them.Things go in cycles,I expect them to get 4 points off you this season.
c)You have yet to suffer a bad patch
d) You haven't won it since 1990,will you bottle it if you are still 4 points clear with 10 matches to go?
e)Will you always be able to score ,in games when you need to? Frankly, you still lack width and creativity

So the jury's out....which explains why the bookies still make us favourites despite our current dip in form.

Anyway,if it's any consolation and if we're not to retain our title ,I'd prefer you Scousers to win it over the Mancs ,they've been spoiled enough in the last 10 years,it seems to me.

i think you're getting it in the wrong place. You're getting it in the United's den. We support United here in case you hadn't notice.

If you want neutral opinions then you have to post it in the general forum some where else where there are fans of all teams..

there are a lot of us who post reasonable opinions, but still, you're looking in the wrong place for "normal views" or i should say "neutral views" ....

apparently these fans were a disgrace against Spurs.. accordiig to some Tottenham fans i know... they didn't sing much...and on the whole it was a VERY quiet atmosphere...

btw..the real knowledgable ones from Merseyside, support Everton.... ;)

No.

Just reacting to typical wind-up stuff.

Note the Arsenal fan who waded in with the crap about us thinking we have a divine right etc....doubt he's even bothered to read other posts which are critical of United, or pessimistic about prospects.

I'm not touchy, but this kind of selectiveness irritates.

Fair enough, but you can't claim to want to have a decent disscussion, when the said people the thread was aimed at wade in and spoil it with their bitter blinkered bollox.

As long as those people are here you will always have wind ups...

You will always find all sorts on a forum like this.

So you're admitting it was a wind-up then? Still say you should have addressed the topic to those people and not give the impression that we're all the same.

I changed the topic heading.

No it wasn't aimed as a wind up at all, I just mean that when you have people whos views are so laughable you can't help but wind them up...

What age are you, 12?

Our midfield is comprised mainly of 27 and 28 year olds. Or Strike force is lightweigth but we still have 2 of the best finishers in Europe. We have the best captain and player in the League in Keane. Barthez is in great form and getting better. I don't know why you have included Rio and O'Shea followed by ?????, O'Shea has been young player of the season so far, Rio is outstanding. Maybe your rigt about SAF, but grow up for christ sake.

You have played 11 won eight drawn 3, that is a fantastic start to the season, but a 'start' it is. Long way to go. Don't act like a tosser because supporters like you take away from how good the Pool are actually doing.

Whatever was wrong with Murt looking on the positives of not being the Premiership leaders at this stage, even given I am addressing a Liverpool fan?
It is common knowledge that teams who sit atop the Premiership at this stage in the season or earlier/later, do not necessarily stay there because of a number of factors. Remember Aston Villa and Arsenal in the recent past?
The team in that position has more pressure - every team is gunning for them, and while some teams have thrived on the pressure (Manchester United for much of the 90s, Arsenal last year), being top at this stage of the season is not necessarily going to be handled well by all teams.
I find the tone of some of the Liverpool supporters in this thread to be childish (not referring to davo who has a sense of humour), especially as I personally have no time for the `You`re shite/stupid/crap` etc lines of argument.
I like Gerard Houllier and I think the work he has put in at Liverpool is bearing fruit. He has also been a shrewder buyer of players than Sir Alex if we honestly compare what he has got (the likes of Hypia) for bargain prices.
But whether Liverpool`s current position is really a herald of success or just another false title dawn at Anfield remains to be seen.

United may or may not be on a downward slide - but hardly for the reasons you mention.

PSYCHO CAPTAIN - who's probably the best midfielder in Europe, if not the world.

NO FORWARD LINE - tho RVN and Ole would no doubt get in most teams, and it's less than a year since they scored 61 goals between them. Both have performed under-par at times this season, and Ruud has been injured, but remembeer what they say about class being permanent.

MIDFIELD FROM 1997 - Scholes, Beckham, Giggs, Keane, Butt. All internationals, Keane is the only one past 30 and Beckham, Scholes and Butt are at their peak.

A SHITE KEEPER - based on last year's mistakes? He has had some brilliant performances this year.

RIO AND O'SHEA - Your point????? Rio was one of the best players in Japan, and O'Shea is better than most CBs in the league and can only improve.

15 YEARS PAST IT MANAGER - 15 years?? Hardly. Personally, I don't think Fergie is past it. I think he's always been the same but has had more than his share of luck.

Well,Giggsgirl, always a pleasure to read your balanced and thoughtful comments. Not bad for a Manc !!
There will be ups and downs all season,I think ,and it could be even closer than last year. The one thing I'm sure off is that the title will end up at either Highbury (that'd be nice again, ;) ) ,OT (God,not again  ) or Anfield (Shurely shome mishtake, hick, )

So the Scousers are currently making the running....so what......I'd like to know how often an early leader still went on to win the title....not as often as you might think !!

all talk of winning the league in october is frankly insane.

anything whatsoever could happen between now and may, so to talk of having it won and your rivals being "finished" when november has not even arrived is lunacy.

if liverpool are still 4 points clear with every team having 1 game left to play, i will start to celebrate, and not before.

"The most important thing is we're learning from the past. We're more consistent now, more than last season. I know why - but I won't tell you."

So the bindippers are going to be champions?
well you are 8 pts. clear of Utd.
BUT WHO HAVE YOU PLAYED THIS SEASON !!
Chelsea ...did not deserve to win that one.
Spurs ..1-1 when the prick went in on the boy wonder when he did not need to make the tackle.
Bolton last minute winner ,a Bolton fan i know told me after the game you would have no chance v. Valencia 2-0 I think.
All teams need a bit of luck now and again lets hope you have used yours up.

By the way wer'nt Villa top of the league this time last year

I support liverpool and this lad is talking shite. Man Utd are hardly in decline and have suffered alot of injuries this year explains a slow start while we have been lucky in many games spurs and leeds to name a few and been steady which explains a 4 point lead in the PL. But united are showing in Europe where we arent which is the true test of class which to be honest we have shown nothing in!!! Your right nothing is won in October and good teams just dont get bad overnight. Also the reason liverpool fell apart in 1992 was the sale of Houghton, Staunton and the appointment of Souness!!!
