Had you read the full thread, you might have noticed that my comments were directed to the WNBA.
I have a daughter playing "soccer" and am aware that most uninformed Americans are more impressed with the US women beating Norway or China in the ultra-noncompetative world of international women's soccer than in the improvement in the men's team. As long as the women don't pull too many performances like the most recent debacle in China, glory-seeking uberpatriots will support the ladies.
Also--I have a degree from the University of Portland, and you know how Clive Charles' ladies did in this year's NCAA championship.
