Kepa
Benjamin Mendy- Maguire-Fofana-Wan Bissaka
Pogba-Pjanic-Arthur
Coutinho
Hazard Lukaku

Notes:
1) Wan Bissaka isnt useless but there arent many expensive transfers for RBs and for the fee paid he's the one with less quality.
2) Fofana can turn it over but it's not looking good for him.

Also mods please close the thread, this is the correct answer.

CM - Pogba/Melo/Ndombele/Pjanic/Keita

Neymar shouldn't be here. He is expensive but not a flop.

Cucurella hernandez Maguire AWB

* British record fee at the time wasn't he?

My formation is obviously a bit of a mess but I'd say it's a fair one, didn't want to include the likes of beymar and pogba who while underwhelmed still were the main stays of their side(i suppose that applies to Harry somewhat as well but I give myself a pass on that one).

GK- Kepa 71m

DF- Fofana 70m
DF Maguire 80m
DF De ligt 65m (Achieved nowhere near the level of success he was supposed to)

MF Pogba 89m
MF Antony 90m
MF Coutinho 105m
MF Hazard 89m
MF Dembele 97m

ST Lukaku 97m
ST Nunez 64m

917 million total.
Hard to disagree with this selection, although with inflation-adjusted fees there could be a case for Torres, Carrol and Shevchenko.

23 year old Bought for 80m Euros and sold at 27 (still to have peak years) for 45m Euros is an expensive loss to the team. No top CB rated 80m at 23 would be sold at 45m at 27.

Btw laughing emoji at the end of post with no reason is the most juvenile thing in a forum. It is better to add context to post.

People are naming Antony two games into a new season when he's 23 years old after he had a decent, not terrible/not brilliant first season. There's still a chance he becomes a useful player or is sold for half decent money. I'd give him another season before saying definitively, well as long as this off the pitch stuff doesn't catch up with him.

For me, a far worse signing despite the fact it was a swap deal so there wasn't technically a fee involved was Sanchez, who United paid £40-45 million in wages to score 5 goals, ruin the wage structure of the club - causing issues with Pogba and De Gea at the time - destabilise the team on and off the pitch. I think he was one of the main reasons Mourinho got sacked for example.

I think Sanchez actively hurt the team by being there, whereas Antony is underwhelming yes, but not actively hurting the team - the team improved last season for example.
Plenty of time for Antony to become an absolute pest of a player. If he works hard he could be very very good.

Eden Hazard has to be the captain of that team. For some reason he doesn't get talked about a lot, when it comes to biggest flops of all time.

For Arsenal it is Pepe. His contribution is minimal and can't recoup any fee spent on him.
I think that's a tad unfair on Pepe and I don't even rate him that highly. He was very decent in his first 2 seasons, from Sep '19 to May 21' , where he averaged almost a goal/assist every second game in that period. Then in 21/22 Saka emerged and he was just the better player and took his spot. It made sense to move Pepe to create room for Saka's development and reduce salary waste.

If we compare Pepe's first 2 seasons for Arsenal to £100m Grealish for example, he doesn't look bad does he? Especially if we consider Grealish moved within the same league/country and is playing in a far more dominant team that won back to back titles, including a treble.

I know GA stats don't paint a full picture, but that's hardly a disaster. If Antony had hit Pepe numbers we'd be fecking ecstatic over here.

Definitely still time for Mudryk or Antony to force their way in.

For United (expense includes wages!):

---------------------Taibi------------------------
AWB-----Maguire---Blanc-----Buttner
Sanchez--Veron--Pogba---Di Maria
--------------Falcao---Lukaku--------------

Potential for Mount, Antony and Sancho still.

Would have placed AWB there not too long ago, but he seems to be doing decently in recent times.

Don't think he'll ever be a 50m player, but if he keeps up his current form, then he probably won't be viewed as an unmitigated disaster.

Barthez
Dalot Maguire Jones Shaw
Pogba Schneiderlin di maria
Antony lukaku sancho

Shaw might seem like a strange inclusion but for me he has been nowhere near as good as he was expected to be.
