We're currently top of our Cup group and only a goal difference disaster will see us lose that spot. The top two go through, and topping the group gets you a home draw in the knockout stage. We play Birmingham again on Sunday in the League, so I suspect the Cup will be used to give some of the squad match time.

United P3 Pts9 GD15
City P4 Pts9 GD7
Birmingham P3 Pts6 GD4

Everton and Leicester are out of the chase with 0 points from 3 games.

The match will be live on MUTV on Wednesday night.

Abbie McManus, Millie Turner, Katie Zelem the only ones from Sunday who are playing today. Not a surprise, Casey's giving the squad a chance to play. Ella Toone scored 5 last time she started (against Leicester, also in the WSL Cup) which gives you an idea of how tough the competition is for the first team starting spots.

The only player missing who I'd hoped to see tonight is Maria Edwards who is continuing to score as a matter of routine with our development team.

27' 2-0 United, Ross taps it in after another mistake from the Birmingham keeper.

Birmingham keeper parries a shot but leaves it at the feet of Ross who taps it in. Not a good night for their backup keeper, it's a safe bet that she won't be playing in the League match on Sunday.

35' Birmingham pulls one back, 1-2. Our defense should've done better there.

A good fast break from them, but our centre backs didn't handle that too well. Siobhan Chamberlain (on MUTV commentary) demanding we show the game down and take control - she reckons we're rushing things trying to score more - but then she's a goalkeeper, so she would say that :D
It was a good finish too, must add. But we made it too easy for her to score. Yeah she’s probably right, as a group we can definitely improve in terms of game management. Which is expected as we’re more than used to hammering beating opponents by 5+ goals.
