A never-nude? I thought he just liked cut-offs.
BIG DUNK:

ZLATAN:

BIG DUNK:

4-3-3 formation, maintaining an excellent balance of artistry and system. Team philosophy: movement and space. Stretching our opponent when we attack, and we are compact when defending.

Our fluid attack boasts three complete forwards: all hardworking team-players, who can score and create for eachother. Their intelligent movement, vision, tactical intelligence and ability to beat multiple opponents/one vs one is unrivalled. All can create space for their teammates, cut-in from the wing or play deeper. Our attack is both effective on the counter or against a deep defensive block.

Our midfield comprises three multi-functional footballers. Their all-round skillset and versatility makes them efficient and pro-active in all spaces: deep-lying playmaking, high stamina box-to-box coverage, defensive workrate, connecting fast attacking transitions (vertically and horizontally) and supporting our forwards/fullbacks. Lampard will make late attacking runs, while also and being a threat from long-range.

At left back, the majestic Nílton Santos (33+) is arguably still in his peak here, with Lee Dixon on the other flank: a symbol of consistency and expert positional sense, strengthening the back four. The Stam-Shesternyov centreback partnership represents an elite mix of physical dominance and defensive steel. In goal, sweeper-keeper Van Der Sar commands his area, another figure exuding composure, positional intelligence and consistency.

ZLATAN:

A team mainly made of kents.

Terry and Schwarzenbeck to kick anything that moves, a formidable duo.

Zambrotta is my 33+ he will mainly stay back while cole on the other side with more freedom to advance. And overlap as Nakata will more than likely come inside to support Linekar.

Sammer deep and holding or filling midfield when Mazzola advances.
Mazzola nicely placed on the inside channel. Ballack box to box and the job of chasing the ref if things don’t go our way.

Garrincha

Linekar poaching

Nice front line big dunk, that may cause my defence a couple of problems. Luckily for me I have dahmer in goals so you’re unlikely to score from anything anyway.

I guess my only chance would be to sit as deep as possible and fill every gap and then constantly try to break down the right as santos and lampard are not going to handle Garrincha and mazzola. Other than that, thanks skizzo, hope everything is good with you.

@BIG DUNK

Have you much on Reyna as a CM?
A short compilation of Reyna’s midfield masterclass against World Cup finalists Germany (WC 2002):

Reyna would be later included in the WC Squad of the Tournament for his inspirational and dominant performances.

Reyna’s passing, tackling and positional intelligence is all to see against a tough German trio (Ballack-Hamann-Frings). His ball distribution (full range of passing: flicks, crosses, long balls), appreciation of space and vision would be very useful. Another deeper press-resistant presence.

Reyna is comfortable taking the ball off the back four as a deep-lying playmaker, surging forward playing accurate through-balls and supporting the wings (throughout his club career he would be utilised as a deep-lying playmaker, winger, fullback or box to box midfielder). Very sound foundations, passing technique and tenacity makes him a good fit for my multi-faceted midfield.

Great comp on Reyna. He fits in very well in that midfield. You could just do with a specialist DM there. For some reason I thought Reyna was a RB.

Anyone any idea why Reyna had a relatively unremarkable club career?

@BIG DUNK I thought you were going to line up as a fluid 4-4-2, with Reyna on the right.

It does look like the midfield lacks a holder.

----------------Pele -------Messi--------------
Giggs -- Lampard -- Essien -- Reyna
--------------------back 4

Great team though and has my vote in this game.

@Zlatan 7 personally I think your team is also very nice and looks balanced to me especially with Sammer's inclusion where him in a libero role would help the rather slow paced CB pair. I'd rather swap Nakata and Mazzola as IMO either looks better in the opposite roles.

It's an unfortunate matchup all around as your left flank can't punish BD right which seems a bit light with Dixon on full back.

That attack is just ridiculously good.

Reyna knits the midfield together nicely. Complements the more box-to-box nature of the other two.

He played right-back sometimes for Rangers. Worked well as a modern, inverted full-back who was great on the ball, especially for a defender in that era. We were pretty stacked in the middle and even Tugay was often confined to the bench.

Thanks for the kind words. I always try to get a balanced team although this draft proved very difficult!! And although I think Dunks midfield is a little weaker his front line is insane and like you said I haven’t got anyone to genuinely trouble his right back
