Yes, we need another film thread!

There seems to be a lot of movie lovers in here. In the other film threads I'm constantly bombarded with titles and directors I've never even heard of, which is fun because I get to write down stuff on my "to watch" list. However, I think we need a thread where we celebrate the less obscure/niche movies that we like. I'm genuinely curious to see what some of the cinephiles in here like among the bigger and newer titles. Hell, maybe some of you don't like any big modern films. If so: why?

Rules:
1. Only movies from 1990 and up until now
2. Must have been rated at least 100k times on IMDB. If the movie came out in 2020 it should be rated at least 50k times.

Blockbusters, Oscar nominations and films that are highly acclaimed(by audiences) typically get 300-400k votes or more, so if it fits one of those descriptions then you probably don't have to waste time on IMDB to double-check.

I put the bar a bit low because there are some famous movies from the last 30 years that haven't been rated as frequently as other famous films for some reason. Famous foreign films will also generally get fewer votes, despite being extremely popular and well-known.

Too many to mention but the top of the list would surely be Django Unchained. The sort of film I wish I could watch for the first time again.

Do you like it more than movies like Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Porco Rosso and The Wind Rises? Just curious, as I don't see Howl mentioned that often :)
All very close except Spirited Away, but that is just personal preference. Objectively Spirited Away is the best, but it is the one I like the least due to no adventuring, unlike the other movies. And for me, it was somewhat boring.

While Howl's Moving Castle is "based" on a novel, there are really not that many similarities between the two, compared to Lotr and the movies. Should have covered even more on the war in the movie, despite it only being a background element in the book. Would have really liked to see a more warlike (Band of Brothers Studio Ghibli version) movie, not war-inspired like a number of his movies.

Yeah, I've heard that it's very different from the book.

I don't like Howl, but the music and the animation is top notch.

The Dark Knight is my favourite film ever. Seriously. Every year I'll watch Bridge on the River Kwai, Butch Cassidy and this and I'm never tired of it.
