personally i think he's a great player and theres nothing wrong with a bit of arrogance if channelled in the right direction (ala Cantona)
For 5 million that would be an absolute bargain.
young & still a bit to learn but got that 'something extra' that we're looking for.
Id be happy to see him at OT

Loved his quote about taking the piss out of Hyppia (or was it the other one?)

Zlatan's attitude is not that bad. He wasn't exactly first choice for Ajax last season. Not complaining.

A year or so ago he always sounded very immature during interviews etc. Now he's a different person, much more relaxed.

Sir Alex Ferguson could make him the world class player he has potential to be.

I saw Zlatan play at Celtic two weeks ago where he got 2 of Ajax three goals, he was very impressive not just in scoring but his overall play. That said Celtic were total Sh!te that night, so can't read too much into it. In todays market a bargain at 5 Million IMO.

remember ole is 28-29 and im sure wont go on forever... zlatans value will be 20+ mil in a few years so why not gamble while hes on the trasnfer list? look how we went back for rio when we could have got him for much cheaper!

Are you sure that he`s transferlisted? Think its kind of strange that Zlatan has played the preseason matches... But it could be to attract clubs and get a nice price for him...

He is just what is needed up front - a bit of unpredictability.

What skill is that ? He isn't even Ajax's first choice. That should tell you alot.

I think he is very very very skillful, I do not know why you do not like him, but I am surpised a bit here as I usually like your opinion about players, but lately, I am not sure any more as you think Forlan is good, when deep down I think you wish we did not go for him(As I still do think you know a shity player when you see one)..

If you go back and look at the posts you'll see that I was a big supporter of us buying Diego even before we bought him. He's a talented young player with exceptional link up skills. The tide will turn in his favour once he gets his first Prem goal.

As for Zlatan, we don't need a player with his alleged attitude at OT. The last thing we need at this stage is a problem child to disrupt the squad when we could have the likes of Gudjohnsen or Cisse aboard within the next 12 months.

Raoul,
1-I saw him once before he joined and I was in favour, but after watching him again and again I am a man enough to say he is shit.. but since we still have him I would luv it if he never stops scoring and I am a man enough to say I was wrong, But it usually clouds over before it rains..
2-They do not come bigger than UTD, and any big ego will be broken on the Old Trafford rock, besides, remember Cantona? Also he will be dealing with Fergie too, if he starts anything he will be shipped to Lazio or the likes and for more money. ;) ,oh yes the names you mentioned are just as good too , but I think will cost double ! :)

Tells me you can't spell "a lot". It's two words, not one.

Zlatan has extraordinary ballplaying skills. He also has the ability to do the totally unexpected. He has extreme self-confidence. He is not very good as utilizing his exceptional physical size. Needs to learn that and a lot of other things.

I think he would be very valuable for us. I don't care if he is Ajax's first choice or not (they chose him first when they were faced with us and it worked pretty well).

What makes you so sure about the "tide will turn" in forlan's favour?

His problem has been psychological, and not in any way related to his ability. I've watched him in Argentina. Once he gets going, he really turns it on. His first Prem goal will be the trigger. Just watch.

i share them views aswell.

PLUS... Ruud, Ole, and Diego and all softies, we need a mean fecker that will throw a few elbows!

Zlatan is better than Ciise in my view too.

'tis a silly place
I haven't seen him play as much as others (his goal the other day was world class, though) but I have heard about his attitude and I don't care how good he is, if he is likely to cause a few problems I don't want him anywhere near OT. I saw him a few times last season and he hardly turned it on. Forlan could well turn out to be better within a few years time. And who says he will be any cheaper than Gudjohnson ? Someone in this thread said he would cost half as much, but are you telling me Ajax will let him leave for about 6-8m pounds ?

As an aside, did you notice when promoting the idea that Forlan should come to United, that his scoring record in South America whilst good was not exactly sensational, plus the report that he had a tendency "to snatch at chances". A flaw which is still to be eradicated, if possible, under fergie's tutelage. Seeing as he was ostensibly replacing a prolific and proven goalscorer Andy Cole, I wonder how thorough the research was into young Diego's credentials ?

It wasn't very thorough. Martin Ferguson was in South America looking for a defender, when he saw Diego. He raved about him to Fergie and the rest is history. Don't know how the Boro connection developed though.

When did we scout him? When McClaren was with us?

No I think it was after Steve left. Perhaps there was some preliminary info that we had on Diego when McClaren was still at OT. Can't see the link otherwise.
