David De Gea. Bright future for Spain and already won so much.

Welbeck is the most talented youngster, though... and Smalling with Jonesy made some epic progress in last months through a very hard work.

Just when You thought it's over, Cleverley came and made a serious revolution in our midfield. Pogba is almost ready for biggest football, Rafael when fit is one of the best in the world on his position and Fabio needs only to bulk up.

This is a really tough one to decide !

Welbeck is the rarest talent imo, I see a bit of genius in him. But he probably can't afford to keep missing months of every season through injury much longer.

Mostly, I'm just delighted they're all ours.

No fecking clue.

SAF has some serious headaches, he already has to contend with sitting Fabio out, our 1st choice RB for last 1/3 of last season. Then he has Wellbeck coming back, but how do you drop Hernandez after a performance like yesterdays? Assuming Carrick/Fletcher step up, how does Cleverly return to the game. When Vidic returns whom if any of the young guns get dropped?

Safest bet is Phil Jones. Highest potential is Morrison just because he is that good. Most interesting case is Danny Welbeck, he could be a force to be reckoned with a few years down the line.

I suppose it's down to what your interpretation of 'best' is. Right now it's a toss up between Smalling and Rafael though. They are the most established young players amongst those named and have proven themselves already, but I have little doubt come the end of the season Phil Jones will be the name of everyone's lips. He looks to have fit like a glove into this group.

Jones is a monster. Incredible drive, good awareness, confident going forward and backwards, tremendous tackle... Between him and Smalling we're sooooooooooooooo sorted at the back.

Phil Jones

Young Rothwell in the youths looks like he could be a tidy player too.

Wow that is incredibly hard.

Jones is out for me on the basis of not having seen enough of him. Is Anderson a candidate?

Welbeck for me as well, perfect football striker build, doesn't run he gallops, has all the skills in his bag.

Along with being a Manc, meaning he may well stay his whole career, I can see him going down in the record books as a top 5 sort of scorer. Really, being so young, it wouldn't take that many goals to get there if he stays till 34 or something.

players that will reach the top level, in my opinion out of the names the OP mentions i would say Jones. I would also like to add Morrison who i think, if his attitude is sorted, will become one of the best midfielders in the league. Now i don't know if i have seen enough of him to form my an opinion like that, but from the matches i saw him in last season for the youth team, he seems special!

For me it's between Smalling and Rafael. I'll take Smalling, just due to his superior injury record. Jones is incredible but I wanna see a bit more before deciding he's a better prospect than Big Chris, ditto Rafael

It's really difficult, in an incredibly exciting way, to pick one out of this batch. I'll go with De Gea, in a hopeful/wishful kind of thinking, that he'll become world class at what he does for many years to come. We had such a torrid time, GK wise, sandwiched between Schmike and VDS that I really wish we wouldn't have to endure again. I think DDG can give us this stability that we are so used to.

Jones looks immense right now.

Not saying he's a complete player because he definitely needs to work on aspects of his game, but the character, leadership potential and drive to be a united great are clearly visible.

Has to be Jones for me too, and that really says something considering the other youngsters on that list.

Best batch we've had since the golden era.

Jones for me.

Moved up a level with ease, also he has that look that nothing will faze him and could easily play against the likes of Barca now.

After that you can pick the likes of Cleverley, Welbeck, Da Silva's and De Gea.

I actually think Phil Jones. Although Smalling looks absolutely incredible as well.

Jones will go on to be the cornerstone of our defence for 10 years. Smalling has grown incredibly as a player, but in terms of natural talent Jones looks just another step ahead.

Welbeck will be great, also.

Based on current form. So I'd say Smalling at the moment. Welbeck has began to show his promise. And while Rio and Vidic has been injured - this making way to Jones and Smalling, Welbeck has displaced Berbatov, and if not his injury possibly Hernandez.

How many of you are picking Jones purely on the basis of this season?

Everyone is obviously a little smitten with Jones right now. Probably would've been best doing this poll before his slalom run at the weekend, all the caftards are still batting their eyelids.
