Hypothetically speaking, if I were to base my Adriano argument on stats alone, he would probably be second to Henry in his prime (2002-2005). Just doing a quick comparison, Adriano made 109 goals in 118 club appearances from 2002-2005. Sheva, widely considered the best CF in the world during that time made 98 goals in 149 club appearances. And that's with Adriano playing for Fiorentina, Parma, Inter, and Sheva playing for Milan.
The criminally under-rated Roy Makaay banged in 114 goals for Deportivo and Bayern during those three seasons.

@kps88 Are you going to use this11 or footballuser ? I'd prefer it if we both use the same for the formations and I don't really care which one.

I don't really care either. I already made one using footballuser, can we just use that then?

You too, @Balu.

Unfortunately, I've got a last minute meeting in 45 minutes so won't be around much at the start. Will be on properly late afternoon/early evening.

I won't be around tomorrow morning in the last hours of the game, have to leave at 7am. Seems like we have to battle it out later today then, should be fun. I'm also curious how you line up, I tried to find the best formation with your players, but I'm not sure about it at all

Thibaut Courtois
While still quite young, the Belgian has been one of the best keepers in the world for the last couple of years, even the best in the opinions of some. A towering presence, standing at close to 2m tall, Courtois has been as solid as they come in the successful spell of Atletico under Simeone. An excellent shot stopper with brilliant reflexes (see his triple save), he is equally good in his anticipation and coming out for set pieces and crosses to claim the ball. More than anything, it's his commanding presence in the box that has led to him getting so much praise at his age.

Albert Ferrer
A constant fixture on the right side of the defense for Barcelona throughout the 90s, Ferrer's achievements include a European Cup and 4 Ligas in a row. A key member of the dream team, Ferrer was a pacy right back with tremendous tenacity and a mean tackle. Going forward he was well capable of whipping in some fine balls into the box as well.

Sergi
Ferrer's teammate in the same dream team, Sergi run up and down the left flank all day long. Blessed with great pace, stamina and acceleration, Sergi was a great asset going forward. But it wasn't just his attacking side that merited a place in the team, defensively he was a more than capable marker often winning the ball with some quality slide tackles. And just like Ferrer, extremely good at putting in a great cross or linking up with the attacking players.

Carles Puyol
Admittedly I've been a harsh critic of the Spaniard over the years, but in this setup he gives me exactly what I need. Pace, aggression, reactions and ability to go toe to toe with the pacy and tricky forwards, shown here in brief. There's no need to start counting his achievements and waste your time, he's won it all while being a key player for both Barca and Spain over the last decade. Multiple leagues, multiple Champions leagues, multiple Euros and a World Cup with a winning goal in the semi final, well displaying his towering presence in set pieces, both in defense and attack.

Rio Ferdinand
The ideal man to round off the defensive line and cover up for any limitations Puyol is bound to display, Ferdinand for me has been in the top 3 CBs if you count the last decade or so, basically the time frame which he has spent as a regular. During his peak, he was simply phenomenal, and while his qualities like pace, ability on the ball and excellent concentration were vital, it was his exceptional reading of the game that made him defend against top PL and CL strikers without dirtying his shorts. Again, countless trophies while being at the heart of them all.

Claude Makélélé
The British media might have gone over the top by naming the role of the destroyer as the Makélélé position, but that doesn't take away the levels of consistency and efficiency he reached in playing that role. Always a vital cog and turning good teams to successful teams, Claude was what Zidane would refer to as the engine of the Ferrari. A brilliant man marker, tackler and a great reader of the game, Claude was the one who provided the solid platform for several attacking players throughout his career for club and country.

Patrick Vieira
A colossal midfield general, Vieira was capable of dominating midfields like few others. A true box to box player, Vieira was technically excellent in his skills on the ball and often made a surprise run into the box, but more than anything his engine, work rate, physicality, determination and leadership qualities is what made him a true great of the game. It's been almost a decade since he left Arsenal and they are still struggling to replace him, like we are to replace Keano, and there's no surprise that it is difficult. Going toe to toe with Keano during the great rivalry days, Vieira was immense in driving his team forward to trophies. As well as with France, where he was as vital as anyone else in the 06 campaign, in particular his 10/10 performance against Spain where he almost single handedly took apart a midfield of Fabregas, Alonso and Xavi.

Toni Kroos
Completing the midfield trio is the still quite young in the game, Toni Kroos. But his age hasn't stopped him from stepping up in big games and proving a game changer. His exceptional vision, passing and control of the tempo has seen him being deployed both as a creative CM or AM. He tore apart Madrid in the CL semi a couple of years ago. Along with his great technique and creativity, he also possesses a wonder strike, an example of which we saw recently against Arsenal. One of the best talents to come out of Germany from as far as I can remember, he is the guy needed to use the platform provided by the two Frenchmen and cut opposition defense like a knife through hot butter.

Eden Hazard
Like Kroos, he was a part of our wet dreams when we almost bought him before he went to Chelsea, and while he took a bit of time to settle, he has been their key player, and the most influential in attack this season which has seen them stay in the title race throughout the season. A versatile attacking player, Hazard on his day can beat defenders like they don't exist. Stand out pacy dribbler, like we saw when he tore Zabaleta a new one a few weeks ago, his close control and acceleration can be devastating. To top that off he's got a dangerous shot and the ability to find the net whether it is a simple tap in or a 30 yard screamer into the top of the net.

Thierry Henry
For me, the second best striker after Ronaldo of this generation, Henry was a complete package at his prime at Arsenal. His goalscoring stats are extra ordinary, and he crossed 30 goals a season five times, which was a massive deal till the two numpties made a joke out of scoring records. Not just that, he racked up 92 assists as well while his time at Arsenal, underlining the fact that he more often than not would end up influencing the game in one way or the other. Blistering pace and acceleration, close control and as clinical as they come in front of goal.

Samuel Eto'o
Looking for a number 9 to complete the attack? See no more. The Cameroon international has showed his quality on the biggest of stages. A back to back treble winner! Eto'o's composure and finishing is vital to finish off the attacks in the team. As everyone else, technically great and versatile enough to roam across the front line allowing others to assume the central role, if needed. Oh and like the "theme" of the team, comes with serious, serious pace to burn.

it's 104 not 114 isn't it?

he scored the 104 goals out of 134 games.

take nothing away from makaay though, phenomenal production

by the way, i just realised how similar suarez looks to makaay, eery resemblances. They look like brothers.

Player Profiles
Edwin Van der Sar - A man who needs no introduction in the caf, one of United's iconic keepers and 08 CL winner, won basically everything you can win both with United and Ajax, as well as a really impressive resume filled with personal titles. One of the best keepers of our generation and club.

Lukas Piszczek - Not the most attractive name in terms of RBs, but this guy is one of the main reasons for Dortmund's Bundesliga title and CL final last year. At 27(last year), he was one of the most experienced players in that side leading them to glory. On his time, proved vital and extremely solid against some of today's best wingers - C.Ronaldo, di Maria(CL semi final), Robben, Ribery(Bundesliga). Not saying he's amazing, but he's proven himself time and time again against Europe's top wingers.

Jaap Stam - Joining his fellow dutchman VDS, Stam is one of the best defenders ever to play for United. He was so good he got Sir Alex Ferguson to admit he made a huge mistake selling him(yeah, we're talking about same old stubborn SAF). A monster at his prime only losing greater acknowledgment for injuries, but when he played he was simply outstanding.

Frank de Boer - Frank completes my all dutch central defense. de Boer was famous for his Ajax times winning with them the CL, but the thing de Boer was most known for is how Jaap Stam made him so much better. With de Boer improved with his Netherlands partner, and Stam at his prime, with their former keeper there.. That's as proven partnership as it gets!

David Alaba - 22 years old, and already a leader for one of the best footballing teams in history, Alaba is known for being a loud and impressive player who organizes the defense and rallying the team to brilliance, and for that he's one of Pep's most important players. Alaba has proven great defensively in Jupp's Bayern already, and he's attacking output is one of the best in the game. These two together alongside with his leadership and tremendous composure(Bayern's penalty kick taker) makes him a huge asset to Pep and Bayern.

Emanuel Petit - WC & European Championship winner with France and a double winner with Arsenal, Petit is a fantastic DM who was very mobile across the field and had brilliant positioning. Petit will be a key part of my team shielding my defensive line as well as partnering with Seedorf allowing him the freedom he needs.

Clarence Seedorf - 4 times CL winner. Again, 4 time CL winner! Seedorf is one of the most underrated players in the caf, he was a bombastic box to box midfielder who exploded forward and was constantly outmuscling opponents with his incredible strength.

Ryan Giggs - Giggs posses a deadly combination between pace & trickery combined with decision making and incredible range of passing, one of the smartest players to ever play the game and at his prime he was impossible to take the ball from with his superb left foot. Crossing, shooting, passing, tracking back, you name it Giggs has it.

Luis Enrique - Mr. Versatility, this lad was so good that he could play pretty much anywhere in the field, while midfield positions were he's best. Fantastic on the ball skills and movement. Lucho can score goals(7 season in a row with over 10 goals for Barcelona and one with 25 goals in one season!), he assists a whole lot with his great passing and adds tons and tons of work rate to his team.

Rui Costa - One of the best #10s in our generation, Rui is an idol for both Milan and Benfica and was one of the most inspiring players at his best, playing either as a classic #10 or a more deep AM who links up between the central midfield and the front men. Rui makes goal creating look easy, as he is single handedly creates chances with an incredible ease. With Giggs & Luis Enrique at his disposal, I'm guessing plenty of goals will come..

Christian Vieri - 123 goals in 6 seasons for Inter at his prime, a massive player at his peak. His aerial ability was unquestioned, and he had fantastic movement and power power power. With Vieri at your team you know you're going to get he's chances scored, and with Giggs, Enrique & Rui Costa behind him, you just know he'll get the chance.

Sorry a lot of issues cropped up at work, just sent a draft to Theon for his inputs. @Fergus' son, is it ok if we start the match later at 1 or 2 pm? we will send to Aldo and Viva once it is ready.

No game today?

Anyone heard from Gandalf? Is he playing his game tomorrow himself or is someone assisting him/taking over?

I think EAP/VJ/No pace/Kps88/Rpitroda are all top managers so I'd actually prefer giving them the team even if I usually am all for walk-overs.

Like anto suggested, keep that game last, so that if no one from outside wants to take over, perhaps one of those who went out can be incharge to let the draft go forward.

If no one is there then it would need to be a walkover.

Shouldn't the last 2 games start tomorrow? I don't mind waiting a few more days though, was just asking because Pippa vs Gandalf is scheduled for tomorrow.

Not sure, today's game haven't started yet so I'm not sure what the schedule is at the moment.

I think Pippa should just get a free win if no one comes. I know I don't want to play with Gandalf's team.
I'd like it if the managers got to use their own teams too, not sure if anybody else would like that though. I think it'd turn a dead rubber game in to maybe the most exciting game of the round then. All managers would absolutely love the option to be brought back then too.

If a manager takes over another managers team it gets a bit unenthusiastic.
