That seems mental. He's already on the slide, imagine what he'll be like in a couple of years. He should get a year like the other players of his age.
Hopefully he'll be a left back that doesn't cross the half way line. I think we will look at it as more of a year and a half for Shaw to develop. I wouldn't be surprised if these are SAF decisions.

Not if it's got a lot of conditional clauses in it, I.e. The second year only kicks in if he plays x number of games this year, and so on. In which case it's a win win situation for the club. Evra isn't half as shot as people make him out to be, yes he's been on the slide but it hasn't helped him that he's not had any sort of rest and the fact that he has to constantly bomb forward on the left. He could regain enough of his old form if managed properly, he'd also be a great back up and a much needed leader in the dressing room in a season where we're likely to lose a lot of experience to players either leaving or retiring.

Yeah, I can't believe we'd offer him a three year unconditional extension. Maybe a one year deal that auto-renews if he makes a certain number of appearances each year, up to a maximum of three years?

We don't offer players above a 30 more than a 2 year deal I think. There is no way Evra at 33 is getting a 3 year contract.

With that tweet from the page before, RI put this up yesterday. As much as I think it's crap RI have been very good recently. Have had all the players discontent, Moyes future being considered and Shaw/Carvalho.

I think such contract extension would include being a back up and mentor to a new lad. Evra then gets the opportunity to join the coaching staff should he desire to, or simply retire.

Makes little sense aiming for three more years with tired legs.

I'm sure he's angling for us.

Whats obvious is he needs the Giggs treatment of picking and choosing which games he plays in. Not 90mins every week.

I have absolutely no doubt at all that Mourinho is eyeing up this United job with massive interest.

We'll talk to him no doubt. He'd absolutely adore this challenge.

He's been after us ever since he left Chelsea. His last year at Madrid was a charm offensive to try and land himself the job here.

Do we really think he'll be allowed to leave Chelsea though? Nah.

Have I imagined this or did Red Issue tweet that we should lump our money on Queiroz as next United manager?

I really really think we can nab Jose. Just go back to Chelsea at Old Trafford at the start of the season. He looked in such in awe of Old Trafford and the supporters. IMO he desperately wants to be here. His reaction after Nani's red card last season said it all when he was almost apologetic in his demeanour and seemed to droop his head before the crowd. Even this season he's skirted questions about Moyes and been revering of United, while publicly dissing Abramovich just yesterday. The man's been angling for the job for so so long. Just recently there've been reports David Gill will play a major part in selecting Moyes' successor. He has an excellent working relationship with Jorge Mendes who might be persuaded to extract Jose from Chelsea. Just hope Sir Bobby comes around to liking him. We've had the Chosen One, now let's bring on the Special One.

Unless the Glazers will block out most thoughts and opinions from the Sirs, I reckon Sir Bobby's dislike towards Mou still won't get him the job. People are crying for attractive football, and they won't get that from Mourinho, but they will get results. Plus he will get his muppet dream of working with Rooney.

This makes sense and would make me happy. Evra provides leadership and good influence, I think. Good qualities to keep around the squad.

That's why he isn't chasing Shaw anymore, because he knows he will get him in red. ;)

Mourinho loves Mata, has great respect for him but couldn't work him into the best side he had available at Chelsea. What's to stop him having different plans at United, go after players that compliment and compensate for him and make him an integral cog at United?

I'm convinced he sent Mata here as part of his long-term cunning plan to take over the reigns at OT and stick the knife in Roman's back.

Oooh, nice thinking there!

I'm really mixed about Mou at the moment. On the one hand he really is one of the only personalities in the world who could handle such a heavy responsibility as United manager, but another makes me wonder how much trouble he would bring. He was my joint first choice with Ancelotti to come last year (couldn't decide which) so him being at Chelsea for one year doesn't change much.

Sir Alex was trouble to be fair! He was constantly getting fined/banned! The only concern I have with Mourinho is his record with youth systems. But I think he'd relish the control he'd have at Old Trafford, no meddling insiders getting in the way. He'll also think he can do better than Sir Alex, that's how the fella thinks!

Yeah, I'm not quite sure what I meant by trouble... It's not just through the media and stuff, because Fergie got fined or suspended an incredible amount of times. The thing that really worries me is his reported behaviour at Madrid, and his reaction when the team got leaked before a Barca game. he caused such a rift that the team seemed to split in two camps. I dunno, perhaps Madrid is a unique example due to being the mother of all circuses, but it just felt a bit too crazy to be true.

Having said that, I seem to be fine with van Gaal coming here, and look what he has done in the past!

To be honest, I don't even look at how players or managers do at Madrid because the club is such a circus. I think everyone in the squad and at the club would draw a huge sigh of relief if he did become manager. I still think it's highly unlikely, but I thought Mata would never join us and look what happened with that. Who knows nowadays.

It would certainly be a shock if he comes. I have that Andy Goldstein on one end saying Mourinho will be next manager, then I have another guy on twitter who seemed to have got a lot right, like the Mata deal ages before anyone else did, saying van Gaal has been wrapped up today. I'm just going to keep an open mind for now and hope the board get the right manager this time around.

I would take Ancelotti over him anyway. I was keen on Mourinho last summer, but not anymore, I really don't want defence football for the whole season.

If Mourinho were willing to abandon his supposedly beloved Chelsea for us, that would give me all the confidence I'd need in him.

The usual criticism that he leaves the teams he's managed in a shambles doesn't sound so incredible anymore.
