Why is he on the bench for Spain tonight and that bald scouse twat starting instead? I thought he'd at least get the chance to play the second half but apparently not.

Ya really strange. I expected him to be 2nd choice for the WC as Reina is purely there as a hybrid between a goalkeeper and cheerleader. Judging by tonight I'm guessing this won't be the case.

Hopefully they are just going to take turns and they will play him in the next match for the 90.

I imagine De Gea will be expanding his operation outside of the Spanish National team fairly soon.Chile are in spain's group, arn't they.He could talk up a move to Vidal and Sanchez. He will also be chatting to Van Gaal after the Holland match to discuss plans and identify a CB target.

Fabregas : "Welcome to the national team"
DDG : "Thank...na let me return the favour. Come to Manchester."
Sees Koke
DDG : "Hey wait up, I've heard they love Coke at United fan forum."

? And risk that Casillas doesn't play a game for 3 weeks before starting their 1st WC game? Never going to happen. The best chance for DDG was yesterday for 45 minutes.
He'll now either get last 15 minutes of next friendly or has to wait until the WC is over. Del Bosque is obsessed with older players and team hierarchies and Reina has been with them for ages. Ppl don't have to agree or understand, but as long as they keep winning tournaments, his methods won't be seriously challenged.

Casillas has gone longer not playing for real madrid and he still stayed pretty sharp. How many friendlies must they have? surely enough to play another.

Nope, only one more until the WC starts. And you could also argue that in the CL final it was visible that Casillas didn't have much consistency this season. Del Bosque won't do the same.

Reina is the second keeper, it was always going to be this way.

Del Bosque is strange and conservative. Older players will start despite that the young players are better and had better seasons. Xabi and Xavi will both start while the likes of Koke who has been Spanish best midfielder (although from an unorthodow position) won't probably have any minute at all. But as long as they win cups, nothing will change. So here hoping that they won't pass the gropus at all and then Del Bosque will be forced to make some big decisions, you know, like not starting their captain who isn't even first choice on his own club.

You'd think the confed cup final against Brazil was a wake up call. Had Thiago not have gotten injured he could have really put himself in contention to take Xavi's position.

I doubt it. Thiago wasn't even called for Confederations last season despite that he had a good season for Barca. I am not sure that he would have called him anyway, even if he was injury free. Or maybe yes, but like the last player in contention with Mata.

Del Bosque really likes a hierarchy. I wouldn't be surprised that when Xavi won't play he'll get replaced by a useless player, but who has been with them for a long time (Santi Cazorla) rather than a better player but who has just started playing for them (Koke).

You reckon? He was never a consistent first team player in his last season with Barcelona. I think he would have made the final squad he was incredible for Bayern everytime I watched him play.

This is something I've noticed, Reina seems to be kept as a mascot/cheerleader and rather than give that experience to De Gea he never got called up and had it not have been for Valdes injury he wouldn't have.

Only reason Thiago didn't get called up for the Confederations Cup was that he was playing in the u21 Euros - del Bosque would have picked him for Euro 2012 if he hadn't picked up an injury and he would have done the same this World Cup (with his assistant saying he had the most chance of any young player of making the squad).

Don't think Thiago would have started but it was a possibility after his form this season and after impressing when given the chance against Italy. Hierarchy is important in Spain but it isn't everything, look at how Arbeloa has been (deservedly) dropped, or how Busquets earned his starting spot so quickly...

DDG going to the WC (I know he already was, but now it's official). His love Mata is going as well!

Agents De Gea and Mata will get some signings for us
I can just imagine them walking up to Fabregas at breakfast and convincing him to come. Or maybe even Koke

The words in his "David de Gea" chant should be changed to "Agent de Gea".

I seriously love him.

It's hardly creative, just his name over and over.
Ya he really deserves a proper chant given how important a player he is for us. Adnan Januzaj was given a brilliant chant only a few months after breaking into the first team. De Gea has been at the club three years and has no chant of note.

Hopefully De Gea can become a director of football or something for us when he retires.

OK, if it's not Iniesta or Fabregas, so what? Wouldn't mind Martinez either!
