Didn't say you did. My post was tongue-in-cheek by the way, it's ridiculous to criticise a player based on 45 minutes - just strange that Messi was thrown under the bus at half time yesterday when Cristiano hasn't been.
Exactly. I dont want to start that boring talk about them but yesterday every other post was about messi being past it. And no mention about Ronaldo being poor today.

Not really. It's the same as wanting Moyes gone, it's long term gain for short term gain, or so they feel. I'm in no position to tell if they are right or not since I don't watch enough Germany or know the players.
Just look at the first few pages of this thread, the comments about Löw are so over the top. The Moyes comparison is a bit far fetched.
At least we have a few unhappy Germany fans right now because their team is winning. Wanting to get hammered to get rid of Löw and all that...

People go on about football being soft and fair enough when a slightly strong looking tackle earns a red, I understand that but it's clear to all players that you can't headbutt a player and Pepe still does so, deserving a red. What did he think was gonna happen?
...added to that, the ref was in full view of the incident. What a brainless player he is.

I hate Chiles with the best of them - but that's the best he's been for a while. Actually, passionately portraying an opinion about... well... football.

More of that Adrian - less of that 'one for the lads' bollocks.

I cannot believe ITV spent the whole of half time debating the red card... Are they aware that there was a penalty awarded, and three goals scored?

For anyone interested, Müller screamed to Pepe: " What do you want from me? What? "
That was very easy lip reading.

Tuned it at HT to see the goals and they spent all that time only talking about the sending off.
That's what ITV do - to them, controversy is always more important than the football.

Ah well, on the bright side this will stop the collective hysterism in Portugal about the World Cup.

Can´t believe they renew Paulo Bento´s contract before the world cup and after that embarassing qualifying round where he was saved by Ronaldo and Moutinho´s heroics against Sweden. Paulo Bento along with Pepe must be the most stupid individuals on earth. I really dispise Paulo Bento.
Contracts mean nothing in football anymore, they will sack him if he doesn't get out of the group imo.

A second player (aside of Müller) who could break open games or turn the tables with a single action. Müller and Reus have been our best offensive players for at least two years now.
Cheers. I tend to agree. He'd add a bit more explosiveness to this team that might make the difference late on.

He's played well actually. I'm merely saying his club form has been poor and it's not made a bit of difference to selection. The problem is really players like Meireles, Alves and Almeida who are just chasing money abroad now and their performance has been embarrassing.
Well this is Paulo Bento. He was the same at Sporting. Always insisting on the same formula, even if it doesn´t work. It was with Paulo Bento as manager that we got embarassed by Bayern 7-1 in the knock out stages of the Champions League because of his unidimensional tactics. I could say that this would be our Euro2004 moment after we lost the opening match against Greece and Scolari changed the team to put Ronaldo, Deco and Ricardo Carvalho but with Bento i doubt that will happen. He rather see us lose than admit he was wrong with his choices.

I think the likes of Meireles and Almeida wouldn't get any minutes in Bosnian team, let alone some top teams, surely you can find better midfielder than Meireles at average Portuguese club.

Chiles is an arse but he has a point. He's just not doing a good job of putting it across.

He also wouldn't be half as indignant if it was an English player - they've all done exactly what Muller has at some point.

Pepe is a prick though. Can't stand him. Should have been red carded a lot more than he has, and his disciplinary record is abysmal already.

Germany and the Netherlands have been the most impressive and organised sides so far.

Pepe should never play for Portugal again.

What's wrong with people blaming Nani? He's been their best attacker today.
Decent game from Nani but story of his career in nutshell this game. Nearly man and what could have been.

How's he being a prick there? He's actually - for once - doing his job... bringing up a solid opinion and raising an actual debate from his panel.
He's only voicing his opinion because the player in question is German. He says feck all when England players do it.

Muller should have been sent off for play acting. Pepe should have been sent off for acting hard and "headbutting" Muller. Vieira and Cannavaro should be sent off for setting a bad example to all the kids watching.

In reality he is probably the nicest guy you could meet. Very funny and down to earth, not the slightest bit arrogant.
Agreed. There is a huge difference between his on the pitch and off the pitch persona. Similar to Ramos for example.

It was important to discuss it though. Muller should have been punished as well

Well, one can be sure Pepe had some choice words about the CL semis to Müller beforehands. Hate his guts, soft red, Müller acting - but then again, if I played against Pepe often and saw with how much crap this dude gets away, I'd resort to that to.

I completely agree with both of you. It's completely ridiculous. And Viera made a very good point before the game. At the highest level of football which this is, even the best players - Messi and Ronaldo, need a good team around them in order for them to play well. Ronaldo doesn't have that. Messi didn't have it in the first half, he got the help in the 2nd half.
