Spurs huge favourites to land him now.

Why the feck aren't we in for him? He's a talented player and he'd join us over Spurs every day of the week.

I really like the player.

I like him too. Yeah he's not exactly the big name or the quality bracket we'd all ideally like but I think he could do a very good job for us. I also assume he wouldn't cost an arm and a leg. At the very least, good for depth in our midfield.

Dembele, Schneiderlin, Sandro & Paulinho...
They don't like creative midfielders, do they?

On the other hand, we have Cleverley, Anderson & Fellaini.

If Southampton sells him too they can disband for all its worth. Its ridiculous already, never seen anything like it.

I'd be very worried if I was a player. They must start buying soon or I imagine the likes of Clyne, Davis, Wanyama, Ward-Prowse etc. will soon realize they're standing on a sinking ship and won't hesitate to jump off it until they can.

At this rate they'll be sure candidates for relegation soon.

Have always liked Schneiderlin, and he's always played well for Southampton from what I've see. If we can get him on the cheap then I would more than welcome the signing.

Not a chance imo. They just sold a player who, to this date, has played 24 professional football games for 16 fecking million.

I don't think they'd get much more, Spurs might come in with 20m, Arsenal perhaps. Unless a bidding war kicks off i think 15-16m is fair.

--- Schneiderlin --- Herrera ---

------------- Mata ------------

----- RVP --------- Rooney -----

We'd be in business again :(

He is the exact kind of player best suited to being Herrera's partner in the 3-5-2. Someone with the physical strength, mobility and passing to be our holding mid and let Herrera be free to link up with Mata, the strikers and wingbacks:

-----Rooney------RVP------ (Welbeck, Hernandez, Januzaj)
----------Mata-------------- (Kagawa, Januzaj)
-------Herrera-------------- (Kagawa, Cleverley)
--------Schneiderlin-------- (Carrick, Cleverley)
Shaw------------------Rafael (New LWB, Valencia)
-NewLCB-Evans---Jones---- (Smalling, M. Keane)
-----------De Gea------------ (Lindegaard)

with one of Nani, Zaha or Young sticking around as a winger option (along with Januzaj) for when we go 4-3-3 like the Dutch did with Depay coming on for a CB.

Spurs? I thought he said he wanted CL football? If that isn't the case, then of course we should be in for him. Be a perfect partner for Herrera, in my opinion.

He was up there with Lallana and Lovren as one of their best players last year. If I was in charge there I'd be looking to get £20m minimum.

I think he'd be an excellent choice to play next to Ander. But as usual Spurs will sign a CM that would work well for us

If i was them i'd be looking for 20m+, but i just can't see anyone paying it really. Arsenal would go elsewhere i think, as would we. Spurs might but i guess it depends. Just have to watch this space.

Clearly the current owners are getting every penny before they ditch the club. Massive problems for Southampton this coming season unless they get sorted out fast.

Wants to work with Pochettino again apparently.

He'd be a good signing for us or Arsenal but surely that Tottenham midfield is too damn defensive to begin with to be adding a player like him. They'd be fecked if they expect Dembele to be a consistent creative outlet there. If Levy wasn't such a cretin I'd put in a bid for Sandro.

Yep and it's a shame. If i was the owners i'd have sold them right at the end of the season. High finish, good manager and the potential to build on it. Surely they'd have got more for the club. The shell of a club they've left behind, facing a season battling the drop is hardly an attractive proposition, but i suppose they're happy to sell the clubs assets and take the money. Sucks for the fans, i doubt they'll see much of it reinvested.

Do you think it's still the case, as per last summer, that United are still wasting their opportunities by pursuing unlikely/unreachable targets like Vidal? This is what it seems like from to me from the outside, but it's a genuine question.

If its true we're definitely after him and don't end up signing him (which we probably wont) then yes.

Ander is a good player and just needs a good CM next to him who will allow him to play his game as well as possible, even if it was a ball winner and sideways passer like De Jong.

I think Vidal could work and if we actually have a chance of signing him, it would be a huge huge signing given our current situation. Like, holy shit how did we manage that huge signing.

But I do think theres some vanity involved. They wouldn't fit together perfectly, someone would have to sacrifice their game anyway.

We still have Eriksen you know.

Saints have a transfer war-chest,

Shaw 38M€
Lallana 31M€
Lovren 25M€
Chambers 20M€
Lambert 5M€

+ Schederilein 20M€

TOT: 139 M€

Enough to sign Cristiano Ronaldo

Just like every Spurs midfielder that guy isnt good enough for United. Looked decent but nothing special.

No idea why we aren't in for this guy. Already comfortably good enough and only going to get better. I just don't get it tbh

As a squad player in rotation with Carrick, Herrera, he'd be a very good upgrade over Cleverley, Fletcher, Fellaini or Anderson in our current system.

Yeah but I feel what Southampton are missing is a really tall Belgian......

"He could do a job for us" posts are pointless when it comes to CMs as that applies to literally half the CMs in the premier league when compared with our current options.

I'm not totally convinced by Jay Rodriguez, but Schneiderlin will do well for them. Both are joining their former manager whom they had so much success under, but I think Schneiderlin will play an integral part in Spurs' conversion to pressing football and carry out Pochettino's instructions instantaneously. He would have been a success for us and easily attainable, so he'll definitely impress for Tottenham.

Perhaps we're not even in for this guy because we need to ditch at least one CM first?

With Eriksen on top Spurs are getting a nice midfield. Vertonghen as CB, they will be playing some good football.

After your thread I'm not really sure what club you are talking about there.

Would be a good signing for Man Utd, better option than, to say, De Jong, for me, as he has room for improvement.

Just joking though

He'd be a very good addition. We need depth in CM. He'd be a good option as first choice and brilliant as a squad player. Young, excellent physical attributes and a good range of passing. Was a big part of why Southampton played such good football last season

Your lot could use a player like him, now that Stevie Me's getting on. ;)

I could make a case for Wanyama as well. Or half the CMs in the PL!
