Danny Welbeck to Hull for £10m?

Nah. I cant see LVG selling him especially when the drop-off is massive after Danny. (Chicha is too one dimensional and Wilson is way too unproven at the highest level.) Danny is LVG's kind of player -- multidimensional, flexible and plays multiple positions. Only still young.

RVP aint no spring chicken and is balsa.

Besides how much will it cost us to replace him? 14million for Danny when a 18 y.o left back cost us nearly 30million? Havin' a laff?

yea thats what i was thinking too. You think that Hull is the one who's putting this information too??

Even if we did want to sell him he can do a lot better than Hull.

This. Hull are so far below his level it isn't funny. No offence to Hull fans either, I just really rate Welbeck.

Are they though? His level as it currently stands is probably a mid table team, so just above Hull's level. No top four side is going to make him their starting striker and the likes of Everton even have superior players like Lukaku.

There's no fecking way that Van Gaal will let Welbeck move, not unless he is part of a swap with a superstar player. Love Steve Bruce at Hull, but Welbeck to Hull, Seriously?

Any fee mentioned? It's going to be a joke fee isn't it? Something like £10m, when they've just sold Shane Long for £12m!

You're a hideous poster, you really are. Teams all over Europe would be taking a punt on Welbeck, particularly those with flexible attacks that are in and around the second tier. But yes, a player that has performed for one of the world's biggest clubs in a multitude of massive matches has a level that equates to a league club that sits in 13th place. Stop talking shite.

Bit harsh, he would start for spurs... I don't think the gap between him and Lukaku is that big either. Both a bit inconsistent but hopefully Welbeck can put that behind him this season. One thing that really hasn't fully transferred yet is his finishing, I rated his finishing very highly when he played underage at United....showed some glimpses here and there but yet to get it consistently right, but I'd prefer to hold onto him for when he does.

He'll be starting ahead of any of your strikers if he went to your team.

 Oh my god that was hilarious to read. Teams "all over Europe", I mean seriously.

I said he's not well above their level. He's better than Hull but what massive clubs would he go to and be first choice? Yes, plenty of clubs would have him 2nd/3rd choice but if he wants to start he's going to go to a level above that. An Everton would be about his level.

Because our strikers are shite, I would take Welbeck but that doesn't mean much. Although Soldado is a far, far more proven goalscorer in a top league - he just underwhelmed last season.

Dembele would start for you, does that make him great?

Spurs fans were always the funniest on this forum. Don't you worry about Welbeck, he'll get a lot of chances for the top3 team in the league this season, same as he got it in previous seasons. He would be easily Spurs' best player.

And I can't wait for you to respond how your opinion on United players are unbiased even though when you are talking about every single of our players one would think you are talking about Hull players and not team that is dominating the league for years.

Suspect its Danny's agent -- floating the idea around the league's managers.

After Rooney's last summer's tiff, I suspect most players who are in a position to pressure United will now do so albeit a more subtle way.

No he would not. That is the reason why Fergie did not sign him even though we were desperate for a midfielder, he left him for your team.

The overrating is very, very funny. The fact is that Welbeck would not be missed if sold. ¨

To claim that he would be the best player at Spurs and that teams all over Europe would like to buy him etc. is just mental.

Erm, Ferguson could've signed plenty of midfielders and decided not to.

Dembele would make your midfield, does that mean you should sign him? No, you'd need a bigger upgrade on what you already have. Is he better than Cleverley or Fellaini? Yes.

Exactly, some pretty hilarious claims here. Also love how I'm being personally attacked for stating my opinion that Welbeck isn't "far too good" for Hull. He's obviously better than them but if he wants to be a guaranteed first choice he needs to be at a club in and around the Europa challenge area, then maybe he can move on to a bigger club after that.

How is £10 million for Welbeck a joke? It's about right.

Granted I wouldn't have taken Shane Long for £1.2million let alone 12...

And he'd be fecking nowhere near the best player for Spurs, whoever said that.

Piss off then.

As for the teams all over Europe remark, I fail to see what is so funny? Are you implying that various good teams from Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, Italy, Turkey, Holland, or even minnows from Poland and Romania, would not like a Manchester United player like Welbeck in their team? A player who for the most part is a regular big match player for both club and country. The idea that his agent wouldn't be getting contact from a variety of teams across the continent is frankly laughable. Only 'Ull my hoop.

If you're talking second/third tier sides sure. If you mean all the best sides in Europe would be tripping over themselves to sign Danny Welbeck then that is laughable.

Big match player? What's his scoring record against the top sides? Baring in mind he is a striker. Maybe he works hard and puts in a shift but for a forward he needs to be a far more regular goalscorer.

Other teams than Hull would be interested and it's below his level, but the idea that he's way too good for them is what is laughable. Hull are a decent Premier League side, he's about at the level of starting for a Europa League side.

It would be a good move for him.

He is never going to nail down a striking spot until he starts scoring goals or assisting week in week out, he is never going to do that until he gets a starting spot (I personally don't believe he will ever be that productive on a regular basis).
A team like Hull, where he will play pretty much regardless of what he does week in week out will either make him or break him.

I see Danny as a specialist player, he is very useful at adding pass to the a united attack, but lacks goals.

Which makes him fine for United but I believe a team lower down the league would need a forward that could get them goals to stay in the league.

A bid from Hull is not as insulting as it first appears, but that actually makes it a bit embarrassing for Welbeck.

Why?

Whenever he plays, we defend from the front and stop the opposition from launching as many attacks (see the Madrid games). And whenever he plays, he creates space for his teammates to get into goalscoring positions and score themselves. Basically, he does all the dirty work on his own so that everyone else can concentrate on taking the glory.

He also contributes a huge amount to our general play and forces defenders onto their back foot with his pace and strength. We're not talking about an Emile Heskey or Andy Carrol type player who only acts as a glorified battering ram... Welbeck had the highest pass completion of any striker last season (or at least he did when I last checked). He's constantly involved in the play and contributes to every area of the side, whether directly or indirectly. Mark Hughes was never prolific either, fwiw. Welbeck would be scoring 20+ if you were to extrapolate a season full of starts as a centre forward. I dare say his striking partner would probably score an extra 7 or 8 goals too. Probably the midfield and wingers as well.

When did I suggest the very best sides would be falling over themselves to sign them? I didn't. Welbeck performs well in big games. I'm not getting into his scoring record because the reasons why he has excelled in this kind of game are related to roles created by managers like Ferguson that ensure the team stands the best chance of winning. Welbeck has been sacrificed massively in this kind of game and his all round play has been at a very high standard, whether it be the Bernabeu or the Emirates. But if you're getting into goals and goals alone then take up that basic conversation elsewhere. It's boring.

Totally agree with the first part but disagree with the second. I think Welbeck is a much better player than most give him credit for and the only reason he's so inconsistant is because he's played so inconsistently, constantly being rotated between FW, LW and the bench.

If I was him I would jump at this move but I can't see us letting him and Hernandez go.

Care to name at least 3 players who are better than him?

Vertonghen, Lloris, Eriksen, Sandro. There are plenty of others too that had a poor season but have had better careers/are more talented than Welbeck. Lamela from the wing had a goalscoring season Welbeck would be very proud of indeed.

You also said "easily". I mean how ridiculous can you get? Do you genuinely believe Welbeck is "easily" a better player than anyone we have at Spurs? Seriously?

All those four have proven more competent in their roles than Welbeck is in his. We have guys like Soldado as well who is a far more proven striker than Welbeck but had a very poor year. He's had goal scoring seasons Welbeck has wet dreams about.

Feck off Bruce! Hes way too good for Hull

Good post. Will almost certainly be ignored.
