Can't see us moving away from this formation this early tbh, reckon it'll be a gradual change, I'd imagine we'll line up:

    -----------------de Gea
    -------Jones-----Evans-----Blackett
    Rafael---------------------------------Rojo
    -------------Herrera----di Maria
    ------------------- Mata
    --------------Rooney------RvP

    1-1, RvP, di Maria assist
    Jutkwieczk(sp?) for them

It's not down to what we think. I'm predicting based on what I believe the manager is thinking and judging off Di Maria's comments, Van Gaal has signed him to play as the LCM. Not sure why Alonso and Modric make a difference because you could compare Alonso to Fletcher in the role they play and similarly you could compare Modric to Mata in the role he plays at Madrid (though this season, it looks like he will play further back the pitch).
So if di maria is the midfielder 3 (along side mata and fletcher), who do you think will be in the front? rooney, rvp and another winger??

Whatever the formation, I'm backing us to win this by two or more goals. Guarantee we will see a response to the shambles of tonight.

Why is that such a comedic vote? We just lost 4-0 to a far worse team, its not out of the realm of possibility at all.
You should rather take the results against Swansea or Sunderland (both better than MK Dons and Burnley) for comparison. The game today doesn't mean much for the PL, because not many players will play in the PL.

It's the same formation I'd imagine, he probably wasn't considering the wing backs as midfielders. I'd imagine it will be Rooney and Van Persie up front with Adnan getting a few starts there.

If we lose this game, I will run onto the pitch and give louis van gaal a slap...if I was in manchester...

Going for a United win inspired by Angel di maria......wait...will cleverley and fletcher be in our midfield? Nevermind, I hope we can get something out of this

Yes, unless his translator is incompetent. He said that he played on the left of the midfield 3 for Madrid last season and that he thinks he'll play there for Utd also.
Good news if true. He was immense there last year, so hopefully LvG isn't stubborn and continue with 3-4-1-2. I do believe he will continue with it though...

I wouldn't start RVP, certainly if it means Mata or Rooney are wide. Yeah, I doubt Herrera will start but our options are so so limited.

    What about:

    ------------De Gea
    Rafael--Jones---Rojo--Blackett
    -------Cleverly--Fletcher
    ------------Mata
    Di Maria
    ---------------------Rooney
    -------------RvP

Di Maria and Mata are interchangeable here.

I wouldn't get too excited, he probably wasn't considering the wing backs midfielders. I'd imagine he meant he would be playing in a midfield of him, Mata and one other (Herrera, Carrick, Fletcher).

If fletcher and cleverley are our midfield pairing again then god help us. Save us Di Maria.

what a bad performance last night was! There will be a response!

    De Gea

    Jones Evans Rojo

    Valencia Fletcher Di Maria Young

    Mata
    Rooney Van Persie

Di Maria will give the team a bit of confidence and we'll come away with a win.

    3:1 United

Not for me, though I think it should be enough to beat Burnley. Also, I don't rate Fellaini at all but I would honestly rather him start that Cleverley and Flecther

There's no getting away from our piss poor midfield, is there? It surely has to be addressed before the window closes.

You actually want to put yourself through another Evans performance? I'd rather see Blackett in there. Much better option and player right now.

I've put down 0-4 in favor of United. The turn around for us has to start somewhere and it will start against Burnley. I don't know much about them but they're in trouble.

    Rafa Jones Blackett Rojo
    Fletcher
    Mata Di Maria
    Januzaj Rooney Welbeck
Mata is not strong or agile enough to play alone behind two strikers, its as simple as that. He would be a lot better in a deeper role alongside a hardworking Di Maria, with Fletcher there for a backup pass or clean up. Welbeck is fantastic and should be in all our starting 11s, and Januzaj provides us the best option on the wing. This is a team that can control a ball with skill and play off each other at pace. Only doubt is if the defence can work together, but with Blackett in the back we have more of a chance of someone initiating communication. RVP will have to come on for Rooney at the 60/70th minute and prove he's not past it.

Unless we have another pathetic performance, i think we'll still avoid defeat. Whether we win or not purely depends on who plays in defence and the CM's and how they'll handle opposition pressure because Burnley at home are definitely going to have a spell of strong pressure. If they're unable to stay composed and start misplacing passes, as we did against Sunderland and MK Dons, then we'll end up drawing. Otherwise, looks set up to finish 1-2/3 to United.

I agree it's a good team on the ball, but i don't think it has the power and steel for an away match, especially with our current form (it's more suited for a home match). It would be perfect to try that against QPR at home

Hopefully a lot of players are fit so we can go into this with an actual strengthened side. I also hope we revert to back four and leave this 3-5-2.

    De Gea
    Rafael - Smalling - Blackett - Rojo
    DM
    Ander - Di Maria
    Mata
    Rooney - RvP/Welbeck

We should go with 4-3-3, especially now we have Di Maria.
    I agree:

    De Gea
    Rafael - Jones - Rojo - Shaw
    Herrera - Carrick
    Mata
Di Maria - van Persie - Januzaj
That's with no more signings but I don't see why we can't get Strootman in for Carrick in January and another top level CB and maybe RB. A decent team imo. However, I just want some familiarity atm, I want us to play it safe. So, against Burnley:

    De Gea
    Rafael - Jones - Blackett - Rojo
Di Maria - Herrera - Pereira - Januzaj
    Mata
    Rooney
I know I said 4-4-2, but in hindsight I should've said 4-4-1-1. IMO that has been our best formation so far and the team above is our best players on current form.
