How is an honest assessment of Anderson's performance hating? Mata and Rooney pathetic. So was Anderson. I guess the only players who played okay today were Jones, di Maria, de Gea and to some extent Welbeck, if we are pushing it probably Valencia.
You're being harsh on Anderson to call his performance pathetic. He didn't put a foot wrong and his corners were probing. Lets be fair here.

That's a woeful looking side, and even though we should have killed them off by then, you can't help be encouraged by those yet to come back in.

Not really. I remember him giving the ball away 3-4 times, in 20 min. At least two of his corners were over hit.

Despite the poor performance, I actually feel a little better, because our deficiencies are becoming more and more obvious. There's weak links and there's no hiding behind a single 'bad day' any more. Young and Valencia simply don't enhance the system. Their failings stem from a poor defence and what follows is a chain-like reaction of people unable to do their job because someone else isn't doing theirs. If we're going to play the ball through the wingbacks this much, we need better wingbacks. We have world class attackers but we're bypassing them most of the time by giving the ball to Young/Valencia, hoping their limited abilities can somehow produce a chance. The new system helps in that it places our top attacking players in the positions they're best at, but it's not working since the ball never gets to them.

Which is why losing players between now and Monday will be more beneficial to the team than the players we bring in. We've got the star signings, shored up the back a little, and - if Blind is on board - a more versatile midfielder. When the injuries return, I think the team on a purely personnel basis is near to where it needs to be.

Would it really have been that disruptive of our long term plans to perfect the 352 had we just done whatever it took, however ugly, to grind out a 0-1 win at Turf fukking Moor?

I'm beginning to question Louis's genius.

Ok let's be fair here and call spade a spade. Rooney young and Valencia did not do too bad in this match, could have done better but we had worse players on the field. Watch the replay again especially second half. Players that let us down this match was undoubtedly rvp mata and Evans.

I do not know why people like to criticise based on history and not in the match itself. It just does not make sense to me. Rvp and mata was abysmal and yet Valencia and Rooney got the flak where Valencia was our most dangerous player behind di Maria. If Valencia and Rooney gets a 5 for performance, definitely Rvp and mata can only score a 3. Please be objective.

Actually,,, after Fat Ando came on... our midfield had greater presence. If anything I think Mata was really poor today and so was Fletcher.

I thought our midfield was better after Januzaj came on for Mata. We actually struggled a bit after AdM went off, I thought. Mata and Fletcher were poor, but Ando was no better I thought.

The one shining light is I went 14 for 14 in the Line-Up game for this one!

We still lacked something up front - I think Anderson should have come on earlier and Di Maria should have stayed on to play more out wide as Valencia was completely ineffective going forward. Obviously, not many like Anderson, but he'd have given us more balance and maybe we'd have created an actual chance with Di Maria further up.

I do think we should have had a penalty at the death, but what can you do? I don't think we deserved to win so 0-0 is pretty fair.

Was a really poor game in general.

On the bright side, Di Maria looked better than what we've currently got already. Other than that, the back three are looking suspect at best against average sides and we're looking toothless going forward.

It's important we get our new signings back soon as possible. They won't find it hard to be better than what we've got at the minute.

We really should have gotten a couple of penalties there and we should have got another at Sunderland at well. That's a potential four point difference because of the ref incompetence already

Sorry but have to say looking at Chelsea tonight , we are BLOODY MILES apart .
Everton would have slaughtered us too, their pace in attack was pretty impressive i thought, and anyone who puts 3 goals past Chelsea these days are doing well (even if you let 6 in). We've been lucky we had such an easy start to the season really, but it isn't going to be long now till that ends, then we're up for the real embarrassments cause the 3 month period still won't be up.

Must admit really thought Di Maria would just give us the edge here, and he tried to be fair to him, but 1 man can't make up for the rest of the team. Jones has been very promising though, if he keeps that up, when we have Shaw and Rojo available I think our defense will improve tenfold. We're still gonna need 4 at the back though.
