Fighting for his place? Once Herrera and Blind are available he won't be getting near the starting XI. By accepting an offer for him the club have made it clear he isn't part of the managers plans. He is a very average player so it's not like he has any chance of overtaking the likes of Di Maria, Herrera or Blind for a midfield role. There was talk before the bid was accepted that he was tempted to run down his contract and leave on a free next summer (bigger signing on fee). If he does end up staying he clearly prioritises money over his footballing development.
Completely agree. He's a money hungry twat.

Are you serious? You'd be angry at him for wanting to stay and fight for his place at his boyhood club that he's been at for years? Not to mention the fact that he'd be going to a bottom half team from one of the biggest clubs in the world. If it's true that he's on around £35k a week, asking for double for a move that he isn't convinced about isn't exactly absurd. Some players will be criticised and lambasted for anything they do, just because people don't rate them.
Of course I'm serious. He's shite and everyone knows it, especially van Gaal. He's never going to be good enough for us so what's the point in staying? He may as well go now and play regular football.

None of us know Cleverley personally. Maybe he is making things difficult because he doesn't want to leave the club he has supported and been a part of since he was a kid. He might want to stay and work on his game and fight for his place which he is entitled to do.
His a Barnsley fan.

I hope we can get some sort of pre-agreement with Roma for Strootman because I see it being fairly impossible in January.

Would be a great signing but cant see Roma selling for 25 Mil. I can see the transfer pushing 30 Mil TBH.
Personally, i find it funny how all the journos think Strootman is nailed on for January. Theres nothing indicating that Roma would want to sell, and there is certainly no indication of Strootman actually wanting to leave.

True but LvG clearly doesn't rate him , this with our vastly reduced games this season, and massive pressure on us to get top 4, it is highly unlikely he will get any game time this season, he must know that, and if so surely knows he has to go for the sake of his career.

Doubt it, to get him in January is gonna need mega bucks, and a transfer request.

After all this spending will we have any money left for him? Surely going to take £30-£40 million if he comes back strong.

Thats funny because there was nothing indicating Roma wanted to sell Benatia before Bayern smacked a huge german sausage on their desk

That Ballotelli piece, everything is falling into place for Liverpool isn't it. Its such a shame that it took us decades of hard work to finally pass their league record and then we turn absolute shite while they look like they could be back to winning leagues again.

The annoying thing about it is that if you take into account just how big we currently are and the ridiculous amounts of money we make, the situation we are in now shouldn't be happening.:(

Exactly, thats why to me the fee alone doesn't make any sense.

I agree it would be better for his career. At the same time I could understand if he wanted to give it one more season to turn it around because he leaves he never comes back

Yeah but the difference is, Roma could possibly still be in the Champions League and in a title race. Would he really want to leave a club whilst all that is going on? During the summer window, literally anything is possible, but during the January window, you see very few high profile moves. That is unless the player isn't in the managers plans, but i don't see that being the case with Strootman

I understand your frustration but things will be better. We have a good manager in place. Let's give him 2 transfer windows to sort things out. I am sure that we will be competing again next season. It will definitely take a lot of hard work to feck up like pool did after their pre PL titles.

But he's not audibly showing he wants to stay and fight. He's breaking down a move because he wants his salary to be increased. If he stays, that's the only reason why he hasn't been sold. Because he ruined a move away due to asking for too much of a wage.

If he declined the offer from Villa/Hull/whatever straight up - that would show him as wanting to stay and fight.

Of course he's a Manchester United fan. Been playing for the damn club since he was younger than most people on here started supporting it. Might have family allegiances to another club but how the hell could anyone play for United for such a large chunk of his life and not be considered a supporter?

True but Roma haven't won it in the last few years. We have and even reached the finals again. There is no doubt about which club is bigger and has higher ambition.

Just don't think he'll get a sniff with the first team if he stays, Herrera, Blind, Carrick, and Fletcher all ahead of him, even if three of these were out still no guarantee he'd get a game with Fellaini, and Anderson still about.

But yeah like you say once he's gone there's no coming back, and he's a local lad and all that.

 Liverpool won't win the league. Chelsea, City and arsenal (with a decent striker) are better than them.
We are not far away, mark my words. We get our injured players back, the system flowing we will be tonight back in the mix. I can feel it. I fully believe in LVG

He's a Bradford fan

I grew up as a Bradford City fan and went to watch them for a couple of years. I saw Bradford play United at Valley Parade. United won 4-0, with Paul Scholes scoring that volley from David Beckham's corner. That goal, and seeing the away fans and the way they supported the team, that is when I really fell in love with United.

We'll ask him because he aint. I said Barnsley but a guy above mentioned Bradford... Either way he already confirmed it in an interview. Ronaldo went through Sportings ranks from a kid but he still supported Benfica. It is heard of.

Well i did say "could" and besides, they are a lot closer to winning a title than we are unfortunately.
Urgh god i hate the fact that i actually feel glad the sugar daddy clubs are around, Liverpool only just lost out last season and they would probably of won it this season if the sugar daddy clubs weren't around. What a horrid state football is in at the moment.:houllier:
