Massively important win. Grinded it out despite being down to ten for half an hour or so. Showed character. Now one point better off than this time last season.

I only got to see the last 20mins. Almost wish I'd missed the whole thing rather than watch that! That's a very welcome 3 points.

Well done from the team. I think the defending was very good after we went down to 10. Rooney was unlucky to see read, should be a yellow. Hopefully we can get some better decision in the future games. Rojo looked Good and so did mccnair. Blind did a good job, a little off game from di maria, falcao should have been kept on. rather than RVP. A win is a win.
3 Points behind City and ahead of Liverpool in 6 games. Arsenal and tottenham means one of them looses points. We will be in a good position.Villa will go out of top 4, so will Southampton. Its been good. Good Stand up performance.

How anybody can be proud of this win is beyond me. Holding on for our lifes for an entire second half in our home versus fecking West Ham. Fortunatley enough lucky to get the 3 points because WHU had the equaliser in their hand many times. Never been more relived to see an offside flag. I'am happy with the 3 points but proud of this lot, hell no !

We really aren't any better than relegation fodder.

How on earth are we going to hold on until the winter playing like this ? Team like Chelsea and City will just rip us apart.

Big result for us. The type of defensive performance that will put us in the top four.

Clearly with 11 men on the pitch we can easily score 3 goals a game but now we've shown some backbone in keeping a clean sheet with 10!

Herrera definite MOTM for me Rafael done really well too.
Paddy Mcnair had an incredible debut, well done !!!
I thought di Maria also defended very well after we went down to 10 men.

RVP goal was class. Such accurate finishing with his supposedly weaker right foot. Deserves the band for that one alone.

And the ref did get pretty much everything right...
Injection of courage in a week... not bad
    Great debut from McNair
    great from Rafa, Herriera too
Good from Rojo, Blind, AdM who showed a real willingness to track back even if he can't tackle for the life of him
    Some positives

Rooney almost screwed us, tough game in the end massive relief.

Mata will get his chance to impress next game.

I am sorry, but this is just bitter. Yes, we would much rather win 10000 - 0, but after last week, injuries and being down to 10 men, this is a good solid win.

Horrible second half, especially the last few minutes but we made it and actually got three points of a game. A game where we went down to ten men! We actually showed some resilience after last week's capitulation!

That game had everything today. Great performance from our defense. Rooney let us down with the sending off, but in all honesty I think only 50% of refs see that as a red. Again, once Herrera went off, we look like we lost a bit of control in possession. Having Carrick back will be great for those type of situations.

I'll take the positives away from this game and I think a performance like that will do wonders for our confidence and especially the defense.

As good as he is positionally and hes passing has been good but I dont think Blind is quick or strong enough for this league at DM as of right now.

Heart medicine wanted. But a victory is a victory. We did great after Rooney was red carded.

I'm not sure I can remember the last time we had a young centre-back making such a great impression in his United debut, but man he is really a joy to watch with his composure and that confidence he showed, even in the tensest of moments in the match.

Borrowing Andy Gray's classic: Take a bow, son. Take a bow.

With Rooney suspended for the next three games my hope of seeing Mata behind Falcao and Van Persie became reality.

Holding on for our lifes for half an hour in our home with 10 men and a rookie centre half is certainly versus fecking West Ham is better than what we have done since SAF left.

should keep the same back four for a couple of games, best one so far this season. also, Falcao should have stayed and RvP should have been subbed.

My heart touched my testicales when Nolan scored from offside. 3 points, we are capable of playing some beautiful football and we have plenty of goals in us.

I'm excited. We are a confident outfit in attack and once we show the world are brass balls in defense with some confidence and a top defender I think we'll be a force.

Well done Paddy McNair. That clearance header:drool::devil:

Rooney haters will have a go if he had a hatrick.

He was brilliant in the first half for us.

I am more concerned that RVP looks shattered.

But then he was up there alone.
RVP didn't have a pre season, so I wouldn't be too worried, hes getting minutes under his belt, and now a few goals too which is good.

    :houllier:

RVP was invisble for most of the match again apart from his goal, not captain material by a countrymile. He is lucky Rooney will be out of the equasion for a couple of matches because RVP in this form deserves to be benched more than anything.

There is only 1 player that deserves the armband more than Rooney and it is Di Maria.

I am a 'Rooney critic', but I agree his overall play was very good today till he got sent off.

Pretty simple really. We were in a better position and collapsed massively last week. In a worse position this week most fans would have expected a West Ham victory even though they won't admit it.

Chelsea and City could rip us apart, but still a couple of games till that. The team showed a lot of character this week especially at home to make sure that last week was not repeated.

I would rather watch us dominate possession and outdo opponents while scoring buckets of goals but after being reduced to ten men and seeing Herrera go off like that, we did very well hanging onto a slender lead while on the back foot. We had been complaining since last week about being defensively weak and giving away soft goals so it's good to see some resolute defending at the end against a West Ham team who are no pushovers and whom are a physical side whose style of football put us under immense pressure at the end. This was an ugly win but it also gives us three points. And after what has come before, getting three points is a desperately needed result and catapults us to seventh. Not quite top four put it keeps us up there with the big teams and gives us a place to start our resurgence from.
