Here is a list of players available on a bosman in summer 2015 (and able to sign pre contracts with clubs abroad in Jan)

some very good players in there - but the one that jumps out to me is Chiellini - at 30 years old Id be happy to see us give him a 3 year contract at good wages as I think he is still one of the very best CB's in the world and I cant see too many of the others being available.

and although he is not on that list isnt Rabiot available on a free as well? and Id be happy to see us in for him

Any others that people think might be worth a punt - I suppose De Jong and Khedira are the obvious two for adding to our midfield (plus extending Carricks deal?)

a cheeky bid for Flanagan would be interesting as he can provide cover on both flanks.

And of course we have been linked heavily with Vlaar and Konoplyanka in the not too distant past

Chiellini and Rabiot. We should be interested on them. Konoplyanka might be worth a shot too (replacement for Valencia/Young).

Chiellini, Kramer, and renewing Carrick out of that lot.

Sami Khedira (27) Real Madrid

Giorgio Chiellini (30) Juventus
Nigel De Jong (29) AC Milan
Ron Vlaar (29) Aston Villa
Michael Carrick (33) Manchester United

I think we should sign (some of) these ones in prepartion for our European assault next season

Some very good players in there that I'd take here but I assume the better ones will get a new contract before the first of January.

I'd Love Khedira but I have a feeling he has already agreed to join Bayern next summer for free. Chiellini is the only other one on that list that I'd want, maybe Kramer

Some good players on that list.

Chiellini, Vlaar, Khedira, and De Jong would all be useful to have.

Thats true but in the case of Chiellini aren't the wages in Italy really low? I'm sure we could double his wages and it still wouldn't be massive by English standards.

Kramer's loan to Gladbach ends next summer, he still has a contract with Leverkusen though, he's not available on a free.

Chiellini and De Jong would be great. Would also free up some finances to spend a bit silly on one or two others. Another World Class defender and winger maybe.

according to google he is on 3million euros a year so about 2.5 million quid or around £50K a week so yeah we could probably tripple his wages without too much trouble

Didn't Agbonlahor sign a new contract recently?

Chiellini for free, or cheap in January, would be good for experience. We lack leadership and experience more than quality at the back, imo.

I haven't heard much about Sergi Roberto for a year or so. He was very hotly tipped not long ago wasn't he?

That's one impressive list. Surprised to see M'Vila there, I think this is an error because he is on loan at Inter from Rubin Kazan for whom he had only signed in January 2013, can't have been that short a deal.

We will probably take a look at Vlaar.

He hasn't impressed for Barca and isn't that young anymore. He could probably still have a good career for a lower tier La Liga side but he is not good enough for a big club at this point I believe.

Wasn't Suso quite highly rated by Liverpool fans? Has he not lived-up to expectations (still just 20), or is he due a renewal soon?

played 33 games in la-liga last year and from what im told by liverpool fans looked ok and he was recalled to the squad for this year - but so far I dont think he has played (possibly in the league cup? but I dont think in the league) - I would guess with Coutinho and Lallana in the squad he would possibly be looking to move on (back to spain?) to get some games - he has 5 U21 caps and captained the U20 side so he seems to be developing well if thats anything to go by - but he will now be at the stage that he wont develop sitting in the stands and playing reserve football

I don't think we have any chance of Chellini in January do we? It's a shame, we could do with a beast at the back, and he's a goal threat too.

Let's double Gerrards wages and use him as back up to Fred the Red.

Aye, he's a fantastic player and a real warrior that we could do with at the back.

Chiellini, Khedira and De Jong stand out most of all for me. If we could sign those three up it would be very good business indeed.

I think Christoph Kramer would be a good buy especially considering his age.

Marcelo? Wow. Real playing with fire there.

I'd happily take Chiellini, Rabiot and/or Kramer - midfield sorted and defence a massive boost.

Fairly inexpensive summer to follow this past summers expensive summer.

Rid of Ando, Cleverley, Fletch and an attacker (probably Mata :( but am hoping for 1 of RvP/Rooney ) and add a Reus.

edit: Rabiot not on that list?

I always thought Chiellini was a one club man, but then just realised he didn't actually start his career at Juventus. Still though, I'd guess the reason he hasn't signed a contract is that there's no doubt he will renew. Probably someone you might be able to sign on a free on Football manager 2015 but not in real life.

City could offer him mega bucks. Major upgrade on Clichy and Kolarov.

Surprised so many going for De Jong. For free he would be great but I always thought a lot of people on here hated him.

Would be good to get someone in our midfield who can 'feck shit up'. Like what we expect of Fellaini, but without being all Fellaini about it.

Yep, and he would add an even better attacking threat - like Zabaleta on the right. Would suit their system quite well too - with their "wingers" preferring operating infield.

He's not as defensively sound as Zabaleta, but City offer enough midfield protection and dominate most games anyway, to get away with it.

Wow, that's a lot of good players available. I'd like to see us going for Chiellini, De Jong and Khedira.

FWIW Chiellini is a left sided centreback. I actually think we're going to be shifting either Smalling or Evans and looking for a right sided centreback as I think Van Gaal is going to have a lot of faith in Rojo.

He is absolutely what we need now though.

oh and possibly dani alves as well?

isnt he in the last year of his contract with an option to extend by one year but it is not clear (at least in public) if the option to extend is with the player, the club, has to be mutually agreed or is automatic (subject to appearances etc).

------------------Valdez---------------------
Alvez------Vlaar------Chiellini------Marcello
------------Khedira---De Jong--------------
Konoplyanka----Van Der Vaart---Yarmolenko
-------------------Huntellar--------------------

Not bad for free! (well plus the huge wages and signing on fees and negligible resale value for most of them due to their age... but kinda free)

Also... What about Anderson's testimonial :(

We will definitely let him go. It's probable that clubs have been refusing to take him off our hands permanently for a while now.

Chiellini would obliviously be the one that would fill our biggest need, I also think Sergi Roberto would be a good addition, other than that I would rather wait for real quality in the CM addition and even though I think Vlaar could do a job for us short term I'm guessing LvG would have went for him in the summer if he'd wanted him.

You think LvG favours Rojo over Jones? As if we bring in a top CB no matter which foot they favour, one becomes a back-up.
