I've just spotted this on the BBC timeline. What do we all reckon? Is there really not enough premier league footy on TV and should 3pm Saturday kickoffs still be locked out? Could we see a move to a La Liga style system with matches spanning the entire weekend?
An investigation into how the Premier League sells its domestic broadcast rights for matches has been launched by Ofcom.
Ofcom, the body which regulates the UK communications industry, received a complaint from Virgin Media in September.
"Ofcom may conduct an investigation where there are reasonable grounds for suspecting that there is an agreement which has as its object or effect the prevention, restriction or distortion of competition within the UK and/or the EU," it said.
Virgin Media is the complainant behind the investigation after claiming that not enough top-flight matches are made available for live screening.
Ofcom, the regulating body for the UK communications industry, said it understood the importance of 15:00 GMT kick-offs on Saturdays to football fans and will be speaking to supporters' groups.
